IDL: Chinese New Year

*Successful Learners*    *Effective Contributors*

We celebrates Chine New Year recently by having a sensory afternoon in class where we explore all things Chinese.

We made a traditional Chinese drum, attempted to write numbers and animals in Mandarin using dough, paint and coloured rice and listened to traditional Chinese music.   We also had great fun attempting to make our very own fortune cookies!  It wasn’t a very successful venture but we loved giving it a go!

Weekly Home Learning – Week 5

Hi, everyone!

Start off your week with this lovely, uplifting story called ‘The World Made a Rainbow’ by Michelle Robinson.  The story talks about lots of different but relevant thoughts and emotions that some of us might be experiencing just now – I hope it makes you smile.

Why not keep in touch with someone you miss by making them their own rainbow card?

Here are some suggested Home learning activities for you to try out if you want😊 They are based around our ILP’s!

BONUS ACTIVITY:

This year, Chinese New Year celebrations will begin Friday 12th February.  To help celebrate, why not read some traditional Chinese fables and stories together as a family?  We have access to a wonderful literacy resource website called Giglets.  Use this link to access the website and use the login details that will be sent to you via email to log in.  I have chosen a couple of short stories for you to explore, all of them have a Chinese theme.  Let me know how you get on if you give this resource a go!

Remember to only do what you can and tell yourself every day that you are doing amazingly 😊
