Feed the birds

Hi Moonbeams, I hope you are all well and enjoying the sunny weather!

If you would like to take part in an activity this week with a family member,  I thought it would be nice to feed the birds. I remember you all enjoyed this activity in class.

Activity  – Make a bird feeder

What you need: recycled yoghurt pot, string, lard / peanut butter, bird seeds

  1. Make a hole in the bottom of the yoghurt pot.
  2. Feed a loop of string through the hole and tie a knot inside.
  3. Pour the lard/peanut butter and seeds into a bowl and mix together with a spoon or your hands.
  4. Scoop the mixture into the yoghurt pot and place in the fridge for 2 hours.
  5.  Hang the pot on a tree branch and watch the birds eat it.
  6. Listen to Mr Tumble Dicky birds on You tube and try some of the signs.

Hello Pinettes!🌲

How are you all doing?😀

And we will focus on a couple of activities that you might like to do.

Singing🎵

First the Singing Walrus – in the Pine Class we love the singing Walrus!!

And a song all about colour!!!

❤💛💚🧡💜💙

Colour Sorting 🎈🎁

We love to colour sort in class – so a wee challenge for you all!!!

If you like you could find us 5 different red things ❤and 5 different yellow 💛things – can you take a photograph and send it in so we can see what you have collected – things from outside, from the kitchen or from your toy box.

For lots of our colour sorting activities – check out these on Pinterest – Wilson loves Pinterest!!!

Art 🎨

If you watched the film Wizard of Oz – did you like the song?

🎵 “If I only had a Heart”❤ with the Tin Man

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PU_QsEnogTg

For Art this week what about some Heart Art?

  • Fold a piece of paper in half and cut out a heart;
  • Open the heart up;
  • Put paint on one side of the heart and fold back in half – press it down;
  • Open up – beautiful Symmetry Painting!!!

Why don’t you put this in your window for everyone passing by to see – it will make them smile.

Another activity is to cut some hearts from some cardboard you are going to recycle, such as cereal boxes –  responsible citizens and cover them in tinfoil, you could punch a hole in the top and string them up and watch the sunlight reflect off them, even decorate them if you want with beads, stickers or feathers.

Cookery 🍓🍪

First a Red cookery idea, what about Strawberry Jelly?  Make up the Jelly according to the packet instructions, allow it to cool down a little and then add something else you like that is red – what about chopped up strawberries or red smarties?? Any other ideas?? What does your jelly smell like? Does it wobble? Was it tasty?

Next a Yellow Food, couple of ideas, custard a favourite in the Pine Room – do you like it hot or cold??? Or yellow vanilla ice-cream if you prefer, or if you parents would like a challenge what about helping them to make some scones!!! Jam and cream OR butter and jam????? Yummy!!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/tea_time_scones_77839

Numeracy🚗🚕

If you are out and about either in your car, or out for a walk or watching from your window why don’t you count the red and yellow cars going past, was there more red or yellow cars???

 VE Day

❤💙❤💙

This is Friday the 8th of May. Why not have a picnic inside or outside – remember this was just after the Second World War so food was limited and no Supermarkets – so keep it simple!!!

Jam sandwiches, a pork pie, a plain bun, jelly and custard!

See the source image

Have a lovely week Pine Class, do what you want to do in the blog, sent us some comments and send us some photos – we would love to hear and see what you have all been up to.

Jardine, Aitken, Boyle and Wilson miss you all!!!

Love the Pine Ladies

❤💛💗💚🧡💜

Stars Activities 3

Hello Stars Class. Hope you are all doing well.

Here are some more activities to do should you wish. Adapt them to suit whatever you have available.

Five Senses Treasure Hunt

Find something –

smooth

rough

noisy

round

yellow

that is a plant

that smells

you can eat

red

Pea Head Person                                                                                     1. Cover yogurt pots, paper cups or plant pots with paper and draw a funny face on them.

  1. Fill with compost and sow any seeds you have. Normally you sow peas however cress, grass, flower or vegetable seeds will grow to make a fine head of ‘hair’.

  2. Remember to keep the seeds well watered as they grow and make sure they get plenty of sunlight. They would look good on the kitchen windowsill.

Balloon Tennis                                                                                          Blow up a balloon and use a bat to play tennis with a partner. Don’t worry if you don’t have a bat, just use your hand. Enjoy! This was great fun when we played it in class.

Story                                                                                                                                       We enjoyed ‘The Gruffalo in Scots’ in class but this is Elaine C. Smith reading ‘The Glasgow Gruffalo’.

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=the+glasgow+gruffalo+elaine+c+smith

If the link doesn’t work then go into YouTube and type in The Glasgow Gruffalo Elaine C. Smith. I hope this makes you laugh as much as ‘The Gruffalo in Scots’ did!

Remember, these activities are optional but we would love any comments or photographs of things you’ve done.                                                                                            I will be giving you a quick phone call this week for a catch up.

Have Fun. Stay Safe.

Monday the 4th of May

Happy Star Wars day everyone! I hope that you are all well and still enjoying this good weather. The Transition team will have an exciting video to show you this week. Keep your eyes on the blog! A clue to the subject is that we were meant to look after them in school but Mrs Ramage has her own at home. Answers on a postcard!

A nice free app that I found last week was ‘Seek by iNaturalist’ This New App Will Help You Identify the Plants and Animals You See ...

It can identify things you find in your garden or on your daily exercise. Just point your camera at it. It is very effective for wild flowers. I think it’s really good. Let me know if you find anything exciting or rare.

Below is this weeks suggested activities. Enjoy your short week (holiday Friday!) and let me know how you get on.

Week 2

Stay healthy and be kind to each other.
