Sungazers 8th June 2020

Good Morning Sungazers! Hope that you are all doing well?

This week we are going to the thinking about Sun Safety – what do we need to do/wear in the sunshine to keep us all safe!

Stay Safe in the Sun - WELCOA

Here are 3 activities to try at home –

  • Read through these posters – can you recognise all of these things to keep us safe in the sun?

  • Suncream Song – have fun learning this song about applying sun cream. It is to the tune ‘1,2,3,4,5, Once I Caught A Fish Alive’.

  • Lastly, here is a cut and stick activity – what would you put in your beach bag?

A Camping We Will Go

Hello Oak class, well this was supposed to be the week of our Big Sleepover.  So it would have been a very camping based week in school so we will continue with this theme in your weekly challenges.

We have made you a video for you, Mrs Murray, Miss Miller, Mrs Livingstone and Mr Robertson taking part in a home camping task. Click here to watch.

Literacy –

  1. Can you name, sign, write some of the items you may take with you on a camping trip.
  2.  Nighttime scavenger hunt, lights out and only use your torchlight to find the items on the list below.

Numeracy –

You will need cocktail sticks and either mini marshmallows or fruit pastels to help engineer a variety of structures. Also some kitchen roll may be useful to help build your tent. Enjoy eating the sweets once you have finished.

Click on this link for the Shape Powerpoint

Cooking –

Who does not love pizza! Well let’s make it healthy click here to watch the video to make your own healthy pizza.

Art –

Time to make a firepit and tent pictures using paint, your hands, and feet. Here are some examples, get creative and enjoy!

Music –

If we were camping together we would of all enjoyed singing together around our campfire.  Click here to listen to camping song, then continue to sing your favourite songs

Life Skills –

Can you look out the clothes you need to wear for each day?  First, look outside and check the weather, then think about what kind of clothes would be suitable to wear today. Is it warm enough for shorts? Is it raining, should you wear trousers?

Personal Care Routine

  1. Wash your hands (the most important skill of this year, and especially important for returning to school)
  2. Wash your face, look in the mirror is it clean?
  3. Brush your teeth as independently as possible.
  4. Use your deodorant
  5. Brush your hair apply gel if you want

Rainbow Relay🌈

Hello!! Pinettes – How are you all?

Well today should have been Sports Day at Willowbank, but we hope you are all going to take part in some of the different activities at home.

⚽🏉🏈

Collect 7 different coloured items from around your house and then place them around your garden or house  – get into teams – first team – start the clock – collect all the items and put them into rainbow order – what was your time?? Now second team – who was quickest???

DONE!!!

Can you do it again and beat your time?

⌚⏰⏱⏲

Well what have the Pine Ladies been up to in the sunshine??

Boyle has been doing lots of exercise in her garden – Mr Boyle is getting very good at taking action shots!!

Aitken has out and about and found a big but very pretty plant – name that plant??

Jardine has been helping to build a greenhouse – wonder what she will grow??

Wilson has been doing some planting and getting out on her bike – what do you think she prefers??

Gardening 🌻

Well hopefully the Postman or Post lady has been and delivered you some Sunflower seeds – it would be great if you could plant them and hopefully over the summer the will grow nice and tall.

Just something cute!

While we can’t Hug

A little bit of music for Olaf ⛄🌞

Olaf Summertime

Cookery – it’s too hot lets make ice lollies!!🍭

Ice Lollies

If you don’t have lolly stick or moulds you can make them up in small plastic cups and add a plastic straw OR put your mixture into ice cube trays.

What has Willow Bear been up to? 🐻

Well Hello Pine Class – hope you are all enjoying the sunshine!

Well Heather has been on Night Shift and I haven’t  been too happy about that, because I want to go outside and enjoy the sunshine and she wants to sleep! So I  keep trying to wake her up, firstly by poking her, this seems to make her quite annoyed!!  Then I did a bit of really loud singing – she didn’t seem to enjoy this either??  So she has shut me in the other room,  and told me to practice my keyboard skills, as I have a duet to prepare for with a certain young lady in the Pine Class.

Take Care Pine Class xx

Stars Activities 7

Hi everyone. Hope you are all enjoying the good weather.  🌞🕶

Tuesday 2nd June should have been our Sports Day. Willowbank staff have been very busy filming and taking photographs of races you could try. The Stars class ladies had a ‘dressing up’ race. Hope you enjoy it!

This week we thought we could have our own wee sports day at home with a few races and a picnic. It would be nice to make some butterfly cakes for your picnic but if you can’t get the ingredients why not make some sandwiches instead. You could cut them into fancy shapes.

BUTTERFLY CAKE RECIPE

100g butter, softened

100g caster sugar

2 large eggs

100g self raising flour

1 level teaspoon

baking powder

ICING – 175g butter, softened

350g sifted icing sugar, plus extra for dusting

INSTRUCTIONS –

  • Preheat oven to 200 degrees C/ Fan 180 degrees C/ Gas 6. Place fairy cake cases into a 12 hole bun tin so that the cakes keep a good even shape as they bake.
  • Measure all the cake ingredients into a large bowl and beat well for 2-3 minutes until the mixture is well blended and smooth. Fill each paper case with the mixture.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the cakes are well risen and golden brown. Lift the paper cases out of the bun tin and cool the cakes on a wire rack.
  • To make the icing, beat the butter and icing sugar together until well blended. Cut a slice from the top of each cake and cut this slice in half. Spoon a heaped teaspoon of butter cream into the centre of each cake and place the half slices of cake on top to resemble butterfly wings. Dust the cakes with icing sugar to finish.

**  Don’t worry if you can’t find any icing sugar in the shops to make buttercream icing. A spoonful of jam or lemon curd in the centre will work just as well.

RACES

If you don’t see any races/activities you want to do on the Willowbank video then maybe you could consider welly throwing (who throws their welly nearest to the target – the target could be a teatowel), water race (fill a basin with water, scoop up a cup of water at a time and run with it over to an empty bowl. Who can collect the most amount of water in 1 minute), ball/balloon catch (how many times can you catch a balloon or ball in 1 minute) or fill the bucket (transfer small objects from one bucket to another. First finished is the winner.) I’m sure someone from your family could help you with your races.

PICNIC

Sit on a rug in the garden, if you can, and enjoy your butterfly cakes and some juice with your family or you could sit at a picnic table. Maybe use a colourful tablecloth. Listen for the birds. Mrs Gardner has blackbirds nesting in her garden and they are very chirpy!

WE’RE ALL GOING ON A BEAR HUNT

Enjoy listening to this story on You Tube. Try and do all the actions and say the sounds if you can. Enjoy!

If you have fun doing some of these activities then send us a comment or a photo. We’d love to hear from you.

Have Fun! Stay Safe!   😊 ❤
