Ayrshire Schools Cross Country

Well done to the 20 children from P6 and P7 who walked out to the Ayrshire Athletics Arena to the cross country event this morning. They all came back very happy – as well as very muddy!

Particular congratulations to Ailsa Cook and Roan Darnbrough. Ailsa was 3rd in the P7 girls event and Roan won the boys P6 event! Fantastic achievement!

Behaviour Management Group

Liz Baird, one of the Community Practitioner’s is running this group for the next seven weeks from Crosshouse ECC.  It is aimed at parents of children up to 8 years of age.  Please read the information sheet and fill in the return form if you are interested in participating now or in the future – attendance is required at all of the sessions.

Understanding Your Childs Behaviour Group

Can you help…?

Primary 7 children will be walking to The Galleon every Tuesday morning for six weeks (excluding October holiday) starting Tuesday 26th September. Would you be able to assist with this walk? They will be leaving Gargieston at 8.50am and leaving The Galleon at approximately 10.55am. If you can help for even one of these weeks, please contact Mrs Lawson or simply leave a message with the office.

Many thanks.

Donations Please

In the ECC we go through lots of liquid soap, hankies, wet wipes and kitchen roll.  We would greatly appreciate it if parents/carers could donate at least two of any of these items please.

To prevent us running out of storage, we ask that only pink and red group parents donate just now and we will ask the other groups to donate over the year.

Thank you

Global Citizenship – Sal’s Shoes

To all children and parents,
In two days time, school will close and we will mark the end of this school year. Before you run for the doors to enjoy your long summer holiday, we want you to change another child’s life on the way out . . .
We ask that on Thursday, you take your school shoes off and place them on your desk and leave school barefoot. A group of teachers, parents and pupils will gather the donated shoes up and they will be sent to a child in Africa via the wonderful work of Sal’s Shoes, a charity we would like to support.
So those shoes, which are unlikely to be used again because your feet will grow over the summer, won’t just sit in the shoe cupboard getting in the way, but will have a second life. A whole school leaving barefoot would be a powerful message that we want to help those fellow school children who have no choice but to leave school barefoot every day.
Please help us to help others who are less fortunate than ourselves.
There is no obligation to take part but we would love to support this charity and the work they carry out in finding new feet for pre-loved children’s shoes. To find out more about Sal’s Shoes you can visit their website.
P.S. We would appreciate one pair of shoes per pupil only. Of course you can bring in another pair of shoes to change into after walking out of school for your journey home; and if you have only recently purchased school shoes perhaps you would have another pair of outgrown shoes you may wish to bring in and leave behind. We’d love for you to take part.
We would as that pupils bring a £1 coin to school on Thursday. This money will help to pay for the transporting of the shoes all the way to their new owner.
Thank you, the Rights Respecting Schools Group

Better late than never!

Here are a selection of pictures from our fabulous day trip to Pollok Country Park the other week. We had such fun in the play park, before heading on a nature walk where we created our very own Art Attack of an elephant. Lastly, we were lucky enough to meet Mrs Mac in the beautiful house. She was the house keeper and took us on a Victorian adventure. We all had a brilliant day and the sun shined for us too.!

Wider Achievements Wall

I would just like to say a massive thank you to all the boys and girls who brought in their medals, certificates and trophies for our Wider Achievements wall throughout the year. What a talented bunch we have here at Gargieston Primary School! We look forward to sharing more of your awards and achievements when we start our brand new year in August. Well Done!
