Name That Gritter!

18.12.18 Gritter Visit – Primary 3B

Thank you to our visitors for showing us the newly named Everest Gritter. Well done to Amelie in P3B who won our Name the Gritter competition. Our visitors told us some interesting facts about this gritter……………… Did you know that this gritter costs around £95,000? Did you know that gritters used to have somebody on the top of the vehicle shovelling the grit over the roads? This was before more machinery was introduced to do the job about 40 years ago.

Well done to all the children who entered the competition and a big congratulations to Amelie in P3B for winning! Look out for Everest gritting your roads this winter.

Primary 3 Cars Activity

15.03.18 Model Cars – Both Primary 3 classes will be creating their model cars next week in class on Tuesday the 20th and Wednesday the 21st March. We need children to bring in empty shoe boxes with detachable lids only. Unfortunately the ones with the lids attached do not work for this activity. We are also looking for parent helpers on Tuesday at 9.30am – 10.30am and on Wednesday at 11am – 12.30pm. If you can help then please pop a note in the yellow book to let us know.

Thanks again for your continued support, Mrs Baird and Miss Caldow

ECO COMMITTEE

Today the Eco Committee decided to come up with a Gargieston Eco Code for our application in the form of an Acrostic Poem. Next time we get together we will create our Eco Code in the form of a large poster / display – look out for it in the coming weeks at the front of the school. We are also keen to get Eco Committee badges for our group and are currently investigating how best to obtain them. This was a productive meeting today!

Cars at our school

Our Eco group have been discussing the safety of our children and the pollution caused by excessive traffic building up around our school. We have discovered that if 4 or 5 parents from each class walked instead of drove, then collectively across the school there would be 75/80 fewer cars at our school in the morning. What a difference that would make!!!

Please walk if you can.

Thank you from the Eco Committee

Meet The Teacher

Base 2 invite you to ‘Meet The Teacher’ on Wednesday 6th September 2017 from 3pm to 3.15pm. Come along and meet the teachers of P2B, P2C, P3A and P3B. We look forward to seeing you then!

Better late than never!

Here are a selection of pictures from our fabulous day trip to Pollok Country Park the other week. We had such fun in the play park, before heading on a nature walk where we created our very own Art Attack of an elephant. Lastly, we were lucky enough to meet Mrs Mac in the beautiful house. She was the house keeper and took us on a Victorian adventure. We all had a brilliant day and the sun shined for us too.!

Wider Achievements Wall

I would just like to say a massive thank you to all the boys and girls who brought in their medals, certificates and trophies for our Wider Achievements wall throughout the year. What a talented bunch we have here at Gargieston Primary School! We look forward to sharing more of your awards and achievements when we start our brand new year in August. Well Done!
