P1-3 Writing Award

The children who represent the voice of the pupils in Mrs McKee’s ‘How Good Is OUR School’ COGS group requested the return of the Star Writer award and the Numeracy Award at our assemblies.  They wrote letters to the teachers justifying their reasons why these curricular areas should be recognised regularly instead of waiting until the annual Prize Giving.

The staff unanimously agreed and here are our first worthy winners of the Star Writer award.  Well done!

You can see their fabulous pieces of writing displayed in the corridor as you enter the main hall.

P7 had a great time at Maths Transition last Tuesday. They had to work with pupils from other schools and together use their numeracy skills to solve clues.

Your child may already have brought home their App design sheet and started to design. Entries are due in by Thursday 27th February and if their design is selected it will then be made in school and put onto the App store and Google Play for download. What an amazing thing to have a chance to win!

Thinking Day

What is World Thinking Day?

World Thinking Day is celebrated on 22nd February each year. It is celebrated around the world by 10 million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 150 countries. Additionally, some boy-orientated organisations also celebrate this day. World Thinking Day is a global event where children are encouraged to think about their ‘sisters’ or ‘brothers’ that are in similar groups around the world.

World Thinking Day Themes

Each year, World Thinking Day has a theme attached to it, listed below are the last few years:
2016: Connect
2017: Grow
2018: Impact
2019: Leadership
In 2020, World Thinking Day will embrace the theme of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Guiding and Scouting values and respects people for who they are, during the day this year, these organisations will recognise the importance of working to build a world where everyone feels included, all around the world.

This year some pupils have asked if they can wear their Brownie/Guide/Beaver/Scout uniform to help with this recognition. We feel that this would be a lovely way to show inclusion and look forward to seeing children in their uniform on Friday 21st should they wish to do so.

P2 and 3 superstars

Well done to everyone!

iCycle Training

Mr McDowell and Mr Stewart organise iCycle training for our Primary 6 children each year.  This training is delivered after school from 3.30 until 4.30pm over 8 weeks commencing w/b 9th March.  This year, we have 47 children interested in taking part.  We are absolutely delighted with the level of interest but this means we will need to deliver the training in 2 groups.  Mr McDowell and Mr Stewart are happy to offer their time to lead the training on a Wednesday and a Thursday after school but we need your help to ensure it can go ahead.

Please indicate on the drop down below if you could offer your time to support our children in their iCycle training. We welcome help from parents / carers from any stage in the school.

Thank you

Photographs will be taken on the day and may subsequently be posted online.

Only teams of 4 can be entered. If you require more details please phone 01560 322 320 and please notify Mrs Lawson by Friday 28th February if you would like to enter your child.

ECC World book day

World book day will take place on Thursday 5th March. We will be celebrating this in the ECC by having a pyjama day. Children are invited to come in on this day wearing their pyjamas, slippers or dressing gown. Children are also encouraged to bring in their favourite bedtime story from home with them on this day. Please ensure stories from home are clearly labelled with child’s name.

P7 Leavers Hoodies 2020

Example of previous hoodie

As you will know in the past few years, it has become a tradition for the P7 children to have the opportunity to buy a leavers’ hoodie. We are now looking at the ones for the Class of 2020!

Even if your child does not wish to have one, could you still indicate below whether or not you are happy for their name to appear on the back of the hoodie. You will be asked to select a size too. We have arranged for samples to be in the school and staff are happy to help the children choose the appropriate size, however, we are only too happy for you to come in at 3.15 pm to see the sizes for yourself.

Child sizes will cost £15.50, with VAT added for the adult sizes i.e. £18.60. PLEASE ENSURE CORRECT AMOUT IS ENTERED ON PARENTPAY.

Last year the authority instructed us to recall all the chords from the Adult sized hoodies due to Health and Safety, so this year we are also asking you for permission to remove the chords before we send them home. Child sizes do not have this design.
