*** BOOK FAIR FINAL TOTAL ***
A great big thank you to everyone who supported our visit from the Travelling Book Fair. We sold almost £2,000 worth of books which allows us to spend £1138.15 on books for our library and classrooms.
A special thank you to the parent helpers who helped run the fair this year. Your help is very much appreciated.

E-Portfolio Workshop
As part of our improvement plan for every child to have an e-portfolio, we would like to invite parents to attend this workshop to support your child in their learning. These 20 minute workshops will run during the school parent evenings and are open to parents in the ECC and school.
For our younger children, parents will be given their child’s username and password at the workshop. We will show you how to post and comment on a post as this is an important part of our parental partnership.
The ECC will be open for a parent drop in session on Wednesday 11th October between 4-5pm.
Please complete the form below if you are able to attend the workshops.
Intergenerational Project
We had our first visit to Howard House on Thursday. The children and residents all seemed to enjoy meeting each other for the first time. We look forward to watching these relationships develop.
The residents enjoyed listening to our singing…
Here are some photos of our visit…
P7 Swimming
Every Tuesday Mrs Lawson’s class go to The Galleon to get swimming lessons . We go to either improve our swimming or, for the people who are unsure, learn to swim and feel more comfortable in the water. We all really enjoy going for swimming lessons because it is fun and a good experience for us as young people because swimming is a life skill and is a very crucial skill to learn . Our swimming teachers are Ron , Maureen and Anne. They are very nice and help us enjoy swimming even more! We cant wait for the next few weeks at The Galleon .

STEM FORTNIGHT 2017
We are excited to announce that our annual STEM Fortnight will be taking place week beginning 13th November!
This will be a fantastic opportunity to engage our pupils with a variety of activities to convey the importance of (STEM) Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in their daily lives.
Are you a parent, grand parent, auntie, friend of the school? Do you work or have an interest in any of the STEM areas? Are you an engineer or do you have links to the engineering industry? If the answer is YES, then we would be delighted to have your help and support during our STEM Fortnight.
For instance, we would be delighted to hear from a range of occupations including:
doctor, nurse, air traffic controller, pilot, graphic designer, accountant, architect, mechanic etc
Could you please leave your details below and Mrs Beveridge will contact you.
Nursery Rhyme of the week
Please click on the above link for our Nursery Rhyme of the week. You will find Makaton to go along with this Rhyme on our communication board within the ECC cloakroom. We are raising knowledge of phonological awareness and would appreciate if you could do this with your child at home emphasising the rhyming words within the rhyme and ensuring the correct word order.

31 years service!!
Mrs Carey retired from Gargieston in June after 31 years as our School Crossing Patroller.
Since 1986 Mrs Carey has helped children safely cross Dundonald Road and Mount Avenue.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks during our whole school Harvest Assembly on Friday 13th October.
We intend to give families the opportunity to contribute to a collection for her presentation which can be done through ParentPay.
We would appreciate if you could complete contributions by Wednesday 11th October.
Many thanks.
