Six P7 pupils worked alongside pupils from Dalbeattie High School to make the scones, cakes and tray bakes for our Anniversary Afternoon Tea. The children worked collaboratively under the guidance and supervision of Mrs Houston from Dalbeattie High School. Thanks you to Mrs Houston and the class from Dalbeattie High School for the support with this event.
Today we held a special Anniversary Parade to celebrate the 140th Anniversary of Dalbeattie Primary School. Pupils and staff were all presented with special anniversary badges as part of our 140 year celebrations.Thanks to Sam Kelly for filming this special event for us. We are now looking forward to our Victorian Afternoon Tea on Saturday.
On Tuesday 3rd of May Mrs Duncan attended the Dalbeattie Sea Cadet Inspection Night and Parade. The Cadets and Guard were inspected by Inspecting Officer : Captain Peter Adams RN. Captain Adams said that the cadets all looked very smart and he was impressed with their drill movements. The senior cadets shared a PowerPoint called “A Blast from the Past” about the history of the Dalbeattie Sea Cadet Unit. After Stand Easy (refreshments) the junior and senior cadets then carried out a First Aid demonstration with equipment purchased from funds donated by Dalbeattie Rotary Club. At the end of the evening the cadets ended the night with evening colours and a presentation of trophies to achieving cadets.

This term P5, P5/6 and P6F have been really fortunate to have the opportunity to train with Queen of the South Football under 21 club members. As well as playing matches we have also received talks about nutrition and good sportsmanship.
As you can see we had several cheerleading squads and a great save!
The wet and miserable weather today didn’t stop some of our P6 and P7 pupils from getting on their bikes and taking part in an ibike obstacle course with Katie our ibike leader. Children braved the rain and had a fantastic time developing their cycling skills going over various ramps, jumps and beams.
As part of learning in P.E Primary 3 pupils have been developing their skills in gymnastics with Mrs Gray and Mrs Dunlop. The children have been working on developing their rolls, balances, jumps and climbing techniques. Children demonstrated some high quality skills and provided feedback to peers throughout the lessons to help each other improve their work.
The first group of Primary Fives visited Carlingwark Loch yesterday with Mrs Graham and Mrs Robison to carry out some fun activities with the Outdoor Education team. The children were split into three groups and took part in sailing, kayaking and canoeing. All the children had a great time and were very enthusiastic throughout. Some even braved the cold and snow to have a little swim at the end!

Some pupils from P5 and P6 are developing their skills as cheerleaders at an after school club with our Active Schools Co-ordinator Amy Niven. Whilst learning different dance techniques and routines, pupils are also keeping fit and active.
An after school session was held today for P4 and P5 pupils to develop their cycling skills. Katie from ibike organised and supported the school with this event. Pupils developed their basic cycling techniques, braking, balance and control. Well done to everyone who took part.
Last term P6 were studying the Solar System and were asked to produce a 3D model that answered a ‘big question ‘on a topic that interested them about space. At the end of term all models were showcased to parents and friends at our Science Fair and several other classes came to marvel at our magnificent work! There was a great variety of subjects covered and all models had accompanying research.
We spoke very enthusiastically about our models and were keen to present our work to other classes including P2 who had been studying the planets. Well done P6!
