Transition
The children who are going to school after the holidays have been taking part in some transition activities. We have had a look around the infant department, had a story in the P1 classroom and playing with the P1s and P2s during their break. We will continue to build on these experiences in the coming weeks.
Outside Play
With the weather being so nice this week we have been making the most of the opportunity to spend most of our time outside. The children have enjoyed playing in the garden and on the play equipment in the playground. The slide and the swing are still the favourites but we have had fun with the water tray, climbing on the tyres and playing “holidays” in the boat.
Open Day
A huge thank you to all those who came along to our final Open Day on Saturday 20th of May here in our iconic granite building. There was a fantastic turnout for the big picture in front of the bell tower. It was lovely to feel the atmosphere and buzz in the school as people shared memories whilst visiting classrooms and different areas of the school.
Setting set up and ready to welcome people.
Getting busier!
Sam was a great help to the Lions club with the balloons.

Primary 1 go Football crazy
Releasing our butterflies.
The butterflies that we have looked after since they were tiny caterpillars were big enough to be released into the wild today.
We have watched them grow from tiny caterpillars, through their chrysalis stage and finally emerging as Painted Lady butterflies.
Today we took them to our playing field and watched as some immediately flew away and some stayed for a while to say goodbye.

Riley from P4/5 has been awarded a special merit in the Category C Primary 4 -7 section of this competition. The competition is in its 14th year and this year they received over 7,700 entries from all over Scotland so being amongst the winners is a major achievement. We are delighted that Riley is receiving this award. A huge thanks must also go to Mrs McLeman our specialist art teacher for selecting Riley’s piece of art work to enter in the competition along with several others form the class and a group composition from the P5 class.
Riley’s art work along with all other winning entries from each category will be framed and on display at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art 0-Modern ONE, from 10th June -24th September.
