Once again Primary 6 have created fantastic space models as part of their topic on space. The children made planets, rockets, spaceships and even aliens! Lots of hard work and research went into them all and Mrs Graham was very impressed by the high standard of work throughout. Well done to everyone who took part!

P7 Science
As part of our Extreme Earth topic we have been learning about chemical reactions.
Today we carried out several science experiments using vinegar and baking soda to create volcanic eruptions. We made predictions and tried lots of different combinations and methods to discover which one created the best and biggest reaction.
We had great fun but it sure did stink!!!!

Salt Sam Visits Dalbeattie
Congratulations and well done to Rowan from P3 who won the Council name the gritter competition for the Stewartry Area. Pupils from schools across Dumfries and Galloway were given the opportunity to name some of the council gritters that they see out hard at work over the winter time in our region. Rowan came up with the name Salty Sam and this was chosen as the Stewartry winner. Salty Sam was brought to school today for Rowan and her friends from P3 to see. The pupils also met Wee Dee Gee and got the opportunity to sit in the gritter.
P6G Glasgow Science Centre trip
On Monday P6s from Dalbeattie and Castle Douglas Primary schools came together to visit the Glasgow Science Centre as part of their Space topic.
We had a great time watching the 3D movie all about life on the International Space Station. Next we visited the planetarium and went star gazing in our amazing reclining chairs !
We also had a great time visiting the science stalls and doing some of the hand on experiments . Last stop was the gift shop for some souvenirs (coffee for the grown ups!)
A great day was had by all!
