Gymnastics Finals

Well done to our team of gymnasts who competed in the Scottish Primary Schools Floor and Vault finals at Perth on Saturday 11th of May. The gymnasts competed against schools from across Scotland. The girls had trained hard for this event and represented the school extremely well. Mrs Duncan and Amy were very proud of the team and their fantastic effort. Thank you to all parents and grandparents for transporting the team to the event and for supporting us on the day.

P1/2 homework challenge

Last term P1/2 were learning all about materials.  The children were given a homework challenge to create an item using recyclable materials.  The children loved being able to show their items to the class as well as showcasing them to P1 and P2.  Thank you P1 and P2 for coming to see what we have made.   The children would also like to say a huge THANK YOU to the parents/families at home who helped the children create their pieces.

Rota Kids

A new club has started up in Dalbeattie Primary School: Rota Kids Club  meets once a month on a Friday afternoon in Dalbeattie Primary School. Rota Kids is a junior, school based, organisation linked with Rotary International and its aim is to fundraise and provide service to the local and international community. Our club has been set up and will be overseen by Mr and Mrs Cathro although the running of the club will be very much under the control of the members themselves. Recently the club members have elected their office bearers: president; vice president; secretary and treasurer.

On Saturday 27th April some of the members helped to give information about the new club at the main Dalbeattie Rotary Coffee Morning. They also challenged some of the members of the public with some games to raise money.

Soccer Sevens

Our P7 Soccer Sevens team played in the second round of the SFA schools competition at Kilwinning on Thursday 25th of April. They had an enjoyable day playing  against teams from different schools and other authorities. The team represented the school very well and showed super sporting behaviour. Unfortunately we didn’t qualify for the finals. Thank you to Amy Bradbury (Active Schools Co-ordinator)  for accompanying us to the event.
