Eco Schools News Round Up Term 1

Our Eco Schools work has been  a little different this term as we are keeping to working within our bubbles. As last year’s committees did not complete a year of work, we have continued with the previous committee members time being.  Recently the ‘upper school bubble’ has been working on a few projects. Over the term, we have harvested vegetables and set them out for parents and carers to make use of in return for donations. This was instead of making soup for the whole school, which would have been difficult due to current restrictions.  We raised £70 through this. The eco councillors have also been lifting last year’s Edina bulbs and re-planting them, re-filling the bird feeders and having a look through the outdoor curricular linked learning resources, paid for by a kind donation from Dalbeattie Rotary Club,  which have arrived so far.

Sponsored Walks

Three great sponsored walks today. The sun shone and everyone had a great time. Some pupils chose to run rather than walk round the track and managed to fit in a few extra laps. Once we have a total amount raised we will let you know next week.

Below are a selection of pictures from our day.

Sid the Snake

Sid the Snake was rehomed today. Sid was originally created during lockdown(Spring2020). Sally Falconer started Sid and lots of Dalbeattie residents And visitors to the town added stones to help  Sid grow. Today Dennis Parker and Alan Duncan helped Mrs Duncan to rehome Sid in the school playground.

Head Teacher Awards

Well done to this weeks award winner(sneaked in a photo from last week and one from today to follow). Great to hear about positive efforts with learning, kind and helpful pupils and those that are great role models for others. In our online assembly today the children were also reminded about respect. Respecting each other, respecting the adults that help and support them in school and respecting themselves.
