Afternoon Tea Preparations

Six P7 pupils worked alongside pupils from Dalbeattie High School  to make the scones, cakes and tray bakes for our Anniversary Afternoon Tea. The children worked collaboratively under the guidance and supervision of Mrs Houston from Dalbeattie High School. Thanks you to Mrs Houston and the class from  Dalbeattie High School for the support with this event.

P.A.R.T.Y with P7 – week 1

Our topic in Primary 7 this term is ‘Choices for Life’. Throughout this topic we are learning about how to make safe and sensible choices in life as we grow up and move on to high school.

This week we experienced our first of four sessions of PARTY from Youth Alive (Providing Alcohol Related Training for Young people). These sessions are designed to help us to develop our understanding and awareness of how to stay safe when faced with the decision of drinking alcohol.

This week we learned about units of alcohol. We learned how many units are recommended on a weekly basis for an adult and learned about ‘love your liver’ days. We each had to guess what one unit of vodka looked like in a glass before Ali showed us an exact measurement!! Many of us were VERY far off with our guesses!!

At the end of the session we each were given a mocktail to try. This weeks mocktail consisted of lemonade, orange juice and grenadine sugar syrup! Yum!!!

We are really looking forward to next weeks session already!

Sea Cadet Inspection Night and Parade

On Tuesday 3rd of May Mrs Duncan attended the Dalbeattie Sea Cadet Inspection Night and Parade. The Cadets  and Guard were inspected by Inspecting Officer : Captain Peter Adams RN. Captain Adams said that the cadets all looked very smart and he was impressed with their drill movements. The  senior cadets shared a PowerPoint called “A Blast from the Past” about the history of the Dalbeattie Sea Cadet Unit. After Stand Easy (refreshments) the junior  and senior cadets then carried out a First Aid demonstration with equipment purchased from funds donated  by Dalbeattie Rotary Club. At the end of the evening the cadets ended the night with evening colours  and a presentation of trophies to achieving cadets.
