Well done to everyone who participated in the Junior Hardrock Challenge today.
Well done to everyone who participated in the Junior Hardrock Challenge today.
We had two after school clubs today. Miss Aitchison and Mrs Cox were running netball for P4 and P5. They group were working on foot positioning, pivoting and spacing during a game.
Gladys from Dumfries hockey club also joined us with P6 and P7 today to develop some hockey skills. The children thoroughly enjoyed their session and can’t wait to play more games next week.
Pupils from P4 and P5 participated in the a rugby festival at Stewartry Rugby Club today. Miss Dooley shared on their return that the children had a great time. They showed good sporting behaviour and encouraged others when they were playing. Very proud of all the children and how they represented themselves and the school. Well done teams.
Our newly appointed sports captains and vice captains undertook their first training session with Amy Niven from Active School to become Play Leaders. This training involves thinking about games and activities that they can use in the playground with other children to encourage play and physical activity. They have a further few sessions and then hopefully we will see them out in the playground leading some fun sessions for others.
Six of our P7 girls participated in the Stewartry Netball Trials tonight at Dalbeattie Learning Campus. Those participating from across the Stewartry Schools were put through their paces by active schools netball coaches Liz and Kerry.
We look forward to hearing how they all got on from Amy our Active Schools Co-ordinator in due course.
We had our first after school netball club today for P4 and P5 classes. Miss Aitchison from active schools and Mrs Cox from school ran this session. It was great to see such enthusiasm from all the children taking part. Over the next 3 weeks they will learn and develop keys skills in netball.
An additional montage of photos and videos has now been added from last Friday. Thank you to my P7 photographer and videographer you know who you are. Well done.
A few more videos from a great sports day. Thank you to all staff for your support with organising the children for races and helping with equipment. Thanks also to the fantastic group of sports leaders from Dalbeattie High School that came along to help out today. They had the hard job of allocating stickers after races and they all did an amazing job. They did take part in a race for fun which was also very sporting of them.
A final well done to all the children for participating today.
