Primary 5 have been carrying out their own investigations into substances which dissolve and factors which affect the rate of dissolving. They had to organise equipment, think about the procedure and how they were going to ensure each test was fair, make predictions and then carry out the experiment with a partner. Pupils learned how temperature, particle size, surface area of containers and stirring all affected the speed of dissolving.
Mrs Dyson has introduced the Micro:bits to Primary 5 pupils and has been impressed with how quickly the class have learned to create code and download them to the micro:bit. After creating their flashing heart badge, pupils experimented with creating their own designs, which included spelling out names and flashing initials.
During the first week of term, Primary 5 looked at the work of Dr Seuss and had fun drawing their own Cat in a Hat and creating their own Seuss inspired characters and cityscapes. Mrs Dyson likes how bright and cheerful the display is outside our classroom.
Primary 5 pupils have been developing their teamwork skills during their Outdoor Learning sessions. Mrs Dyson was pleased to hear so much positive language being used as pupils supported each other during completion of each challenge – Roller Ball, Amazing Maze and our Photography Challenge!
Primary 4/5 have been learning about Tri Golf with Mrs Gray in P.E Today they were out with Mrs McLean brushing up on their swings and puts.
P3 had another super successful trip this week! Thanks to Threave Gardens for hosting. Everyone enjoyed exploring the beautiful grounds while learning about woodland animals and birds.
‘Respect trees, plants and animals’ was the message being spread by the pupils on their return to school.
Primary 2/3 enjoyed a visit to Threave Gardens. the participated in a range of planned learning activities.

Fantastic morning spent up the Rounall Woods today(11.9.19)!
The children had such great fun exploring, identifying and building! After a successful scavenger hunt the children worked in teams to design and build their own ‘Home for a Hedgehog’ and Stick Skeleton!

Today, we held two different assemblies where awards were presented: one for P1 up to P3 and another for P3 / 4 up to P7. It was pleasing to see lots of deserving award winners.
