The children had lots of fun learning new skills and working together in their teams. Thank you to all of the instructors at Carlingwark and all of the staff who were also very brave on the water! We all had a great day!

Thank you to all parents and carers in the audience! We hope you enjoyed the concert!

Primary 4/5 Tall Ship Trip Glasgow

Primary 4/5 went on a trip to the Tall Ship in Glasgow. For our first workshop we had to be Marine Archaeologists – finding and identifying artefacts from Titanic.

On the second workshop, we looked at the 12 course menu which was served to First class passengers and created our own versions. We then had to work in groups to set the table for first class guests.

The final part of our trip involved an interesting tour of the ship Glenlee. We had a go at turning the wheel, ringing the bell and scrubbing the deck.

Thank you to the Tall ship staff and to all adult helpers on our trip.

Primary 4/5 Science Experiments

Primary 4/5 have been carrying out a few science experiments in class this term. We did an investigation to find out if salt, sugar, sand, chalk, herbs, flour, washing power, coffee granules and gravy would dissolve in warm water. The children made their predictions and then decided if the materials were soluble or insoluble and recorded them in the correct category in their table. They also then predicted how many spoonfuls of sugar/salt they could add to the water before it became saturated.

Some of the children brought equipment into school to demonstrate their own experiments. Archie made his own slime. Lexie demonstrated the skittles experiment. Liam showed us the reaction created when mints are added to a bottle of coke.

Well done P4/5!
