Scooter Skills and Outdoor Learning Staff Training

Staff undertook training in scooter skills and outdoor learning yesterday with Briony from ibike. Staff took part in practical activities in both areas( no injuries from the scooters thank goodness). There was lots of discussion how games and activities could be changed depending on class, level, topic and interest levels. It was great to be out in the sunshine completing this training. It was Staff were certainly motivated to  develop some of the ideas with their classes. I can see some outdoor story creation happening and being outside using different areas of the school grounds. Ms Scott has also got P4/5 all prepared with helmets for scooters skills this afternoon.

Bikeability Level 1

What a fantastic day to be out with some of our P7s undertaking their bikeability level 1 training today. All the children were amazing. They carried out bike and helmet checks. They followed instructions with care and demonstrated a good awareness of cycle control, gliding, stopping, starting and turning. The slow race was a great challenge and they all gave this a great go. Looking forward to progressing to level 2 training next term.

Assembly and Head Teacher’s Awards 13.9.24

Today at assembly we heard from Meadow and Aiden about the Fairtrade activities that the Eco group are going to be undertaking as part of Fairtrade fortnight. Mrs Howie will be sharing more detail in due course. Well done Meadow and Aiden for being confident individual to stand up and share this information

In Friday Focus today the group spoke with me about our school value of being kind. This continued into assembly where I asked the children to think about what being kind means at Dalbeattie Primary. We certainly do have kind children here at Dalbeattie Primary.

We also spoke about the lost property trolley in assembly and the amount of items on this. I have asked the children to try and be more responsible with their property and try to collect it and keep it safe.

Awards were give out today for a fantastic range of reasons. These included being committed to learning, being confident in PE and working collaboratively, working really hard in maths, building fluency in reading and for being a super role model. Well done to all our award winners.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Assembly and Head Teacher’s Awards 30.8.24

The theme for assembly today was about all being unique and individual in our own way. We looked at similarities and differences between a range of buttons that had been collected and then at some things from the natural world that are all unique. The children were reminded that we all have special interests and qualities and that is what makes everyone important in our school The children were reminded about treating everyone fairly and with resect. The motto  – Treat others in the way we would like to be treated. was shared  to round off the assembly.

The first awards of the term were also given out today. 2 class awards and lots of awards for settling in well and being role models for others. Showing the school values has also been a key focus for teachers as they have identified their award winners today.

Well done everyone.
