Heart Start Training
Pupils from Primary 6 and 7 classes have recently participated in Heart Start training a British Heart Foundation Initiative. The pupils learned about emergency life support- as the motto stated, ‘ Simple Skills Save Lives ‘. Training was delivered by members of the Dalbeattie First Responders team supported by the local Fire Brigade. Thank you to all volunteers who attended training to support with pupils learning.

Scots Poetry Judging
The class Scots Poetry competitions were judged today. All class teachers judged different classes throughout the school. This was not an easy job but they all thoroughly enjoyed their morning. The standards were very high and children once again have put a fantastic amount of effort into learning and reciting their poems. The winners from each class will perform their poems next week at assembly. Photos to follow.

Final Events
Dalbeattie Primary Final Events
To mark the final months in our current building we will be hosting two events to mark and recognise the history of Dalbeattie Primary school on its current site.
On Saturday 20th May, there will be one final doors open day which will take place in both the upper and lower school buildings. Visitors are welcome to visit Dalbeattie Primary School to reminisce, share memories and view the school as it is today. Doors will open at 10a.m and close at 3p.m . At 12 mid-day, we would like as many people as possible who have been pupils and staff at Dalbeattie Primary School (or indeed, the High School pre 1958) to join us in front of the bell tower for a large group photograph to mark the event. It may even get us into the Record books for the most former pupils and staff in a picture SO KEEP THE DATE! However, all friends, members of the school and wider local community are welcome to visit the buildings at any point during the day.
Our second event is for current and former staff. We will also be hosting an afternoon tea for former staff (teaching and non-teaching) on Wednesday 7th June 3:30-5pm. The event is a social gathering to welcome former staff to the school for one final look round the old granite buildings before we progress to our new learning campus in October 2017. Any former staff interested in joining current staff for the this event should contact the school office either by phone or email – 01556611597 or gw08officedalbeatti2@ea.dumgal.sch.uk
