Assembly and Head Teacher’s Awards

In assembly this week we learned about Children in Need. We found out about the history of the charity and what funds raised are used for. Thank you to Mrs Howie and the pupil council for organising our lucky ball raffle this week.

Head Teacher’s Awards this week were presented for a range of reasons. These included improved participation in discussions, being an excellent role model in class, being fantastic science partners during learning for demonstrating school value of kindness.Well done to all our achievers.

Our P7 playleaders were also presented with their certificates today. The P7 sports captains and vice captains have been taking part in play leader training with Amy and John from Active Schools. The play leaders will now use their skills to set up a variety of play activities for different classes at lunchtimes.

Classes were also presented certificates of participation for entering the name the gritter competition run by Dumfries and Galloway Council.  Unfortunately, the names we entered weren’t picked this time but always great to take part in local competitions.

Assembly and Head Teacher’s Awards

A busy assembly today. Reverend Wilson  joined and shared the story of Zacchaeus.  We watched a short clip to share the importance of Remembrance  and awards were given out. Lots of creative writing this week, effort with phonics, settling well back into term 2 and showing perseverance with learning were all reasons for awards today. Well done everyone.

I have also shared a picture of some of the great poppy creation made by our nursery children for Remembrance.

A second picture is also included of our 7 Stars dancers. I am still trying to get all 7 together.

Sharing Learning

Our P5-P7 classes were invited to join S2 Health and Wellbeing classes to play games they had created about feelings and emotions. The children then voted on their favourite games. Thank you Ms McQuade and S2 for inviting the classes to join you at Dalbeattie High School.  P5 have not yet visited they will go along with beginning 20th November.

Pictures show P6 working with S2.

Fun 31 P1-P5

Fun 31 from P1

In Fun 31 today P1 went outside for a Skeleton Scavenger Hunt in groups.  We were also joined by some P7’s who chose to have fun with us!  Once we had found and assembled the pieces we had a few spooky dances back in class.

A few pictures from Fun 31 today.

P2 and P3 had a Just dance group, animal play and arts and crafts.

P4-P5 had construction activities, outdoor physical activity and modelling and making cloud dough as their play activities today. The cloud dough was a huge hit. Thanks Ms Scott for this.

Assembly and HT Awards

We started the first assembly of the term with some hymns. The P6 and P7 had great recall of these and encouraged the younger classes to sing along.

We celebrated the success of our group 7 Stars who participated in the Stewartry Active Schools dance festival. The group was awarded best overall performance. The picture taken today shows 6 of the 7 stars. We will update on Monday with our 7 Stars. The group will perform their dance to us at a future assembly. Pictures and videos will also appear on active schools Facebook page.

Awards were presented this week for underwriting a super sentence, being a super star and role model to others in the class, being an excellent listener, excellent attitude to learning and wonderful literacy skills, showing leadership in creating dance routines, being determined to succeed with learning and enjoying a new history topic.
