We packed in a lot in a short space of time starting with tag rugby with Allan and Ellie who put us through our paces, kept us active and we worked together well to achieve great results. We planned a trip to Glen Nant for the Wednesday so this involved creating a risk assessment.

Healthy Living Project

It’s all swings and roundabouts in Primary 6 at Rhu as pupils have been designing their own Healthy Living Theme Park.
The project has been a homework topic this term and children have taken the theme of a healthy, balanced lifestyle and turned it into a business venture. They have each designed their own theme park, with the emphasis on being active and eating healthy food. So gone are the burgers and coke to be replaced by smoothie bars and fruit snack shops.

Dunoon Primary Learning Centre Sponsored Walk – Wednesday 7th June

A few weeks ago, one of our older pupil’s had the fantastic idea of doing a sponsored walk to raise money for Learning Centre funds, particuarly to buy new outdoor equipment and toys. The LC2 class planned and organised the walk in consultation with the head teacher. We used Google maps to plan our route – it was 2.5 miles from the school to the Sandbank swing park which we thought was perfect. We wrote to parents, made posters which the younger children in LC1 helped to decorate, and carried out a risk assessment.

North Lorn Sports Day Fun – The Rainbow Games

It was Achaleven Primary’s turn to organised Sports Day this year for their school along with Barcaldine, Kilchrenan, Lismore and Strath of Appin schools. Appin kindly offered their facilities for the day. As we are a collection of schools we decided on a collection of colours for our theme – a rainbow! The pupils from Achaleven designed all the games and an active warm-up to get everyone ready. Although there was a bit of rain it didn’t dampen spirits and lots of fun was had and friendships made. You can’t have a rainbow without a little rain!! Continue reading North Lorn Sports Day Fun – The Rainbow Games

Far too much fun was being had at Toward Primary. Can you spot what shapes we are making? Can you tell your boat from your shoulder stand or your dancer from your chair?

Thank you to Active Schools who funded training that enabled Mrs Gerrish from Toward Primary to attend. She has put everything she has learnt, into offering an after school yoga club for the pupils of the school.

Hip Hop Workshop at Strone Primary School

‘On Monday 20th March M.C and David came to visit our school. David was the camera man and organiser. M.C is a hip hop artist. He was a fun person who taught us how to do hip hop dancing and street poetry. He was brilliant at it! M.C told us what RAP means. It means Rhyming American Poetry. When we did street poetry I thought I’d be bad at it but it turned out to be great fun. We went up to the hall to do some hip hop dancing which was very cool. Everyone thought it was really brilliant. I hope he comes back again.’ By Adam Smith, P6 pupil.
