A packed hall of family, friends and members of the community enjoyed a terrific evening of music, dance and entertainment at our recent ceilidh. The children enthusiastically performed their songs and ceilidh dances and it was a great opportunity for the highland dancers to showcase their talents along with our instrumental performers (on chanter, accordion and violin).

A packed village hall last Thursday evening enjoyed a wonderful performance of ‘Cinders’ by Strath of Appin Primary School pupils and nursery children. In just over two weeks the pupils pulled out all the stops to learn their lines, song words and dance routines which got everyone in the Festival mood.

As part of Maths Week pupils at Strath of Appin Primary worked together in their clans to solve a daily maths-themed challenge. The challenges were varied and drew on a range of mathematical skills as well as encouraging good communication skills and effective teamwork.

It was Achaleven Primary’s turn to organised Sports Day this year for their school along with Barcaldine, Kilchrenan, Lismore and Strath of Appin schools. Appin kindly offered their facilities for the day. As we are a collection of schools we decided on a collection of colours for our theme – a rainbow! The pupils from Achaleven designed all the games and an active warm-up to get everyone ready. Although there was a bit of rain it didn’t dampen spirits and lots of fun was had and friendships made.
