Green Flag – Drumlemble Primary
Drumlemble Primary School are delighted to announce that they have been awarded their third green flag. All of the children in the school have been working incredibly hard to achieve this. It has been wonderful to see all of the children fully involved in working towards their targets. Next term the children will build Eco into their Inter Disciplinary Learning and will work together to improved the school grounds. The children would like to thank Mrs McAlister and Mrs Black for their hard work and dedication in order to help them be to achieve this.
Drumlemble and Carradale Primary School news
World book day was celebrated in style by the children and staff at Drumlemble and Carradale Primary Schools. Everyone rose to the occasion and came to school dressed as a book character. These ranged from Gangster Granny, to Katy Morag and even the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland.

Trip Down Memory Lane at Dunoon Primary Open Day!
To celebrate our whole school Interdisciplinary Topic, Our School and Our Community, we hosted an Open Day for the community to come in to our school. Our community were able to take guided tours of our school led by our pupils to see the wonderful work that we have been doing. We are very lucky that Mr John Stirling from our local museum provided us with school artefacts from bygone days and was there to help us on the day and talk to our visitors.Eleanor McKay from Library HQ helped us with the displays.

Strachur Early Level Class Forest School
Our early level class have had two very exciting sessions of Forest School led by our P1-2 teacher, Mrs Leyland. Our Pre-5, Primary 1 and Primary 2 pupils have enjoyed getting muddy whilst developing various skills in outdoor education.

On Tuesday the 23rd of February, the pupils of Clachan and Skipness Primary Schools had a fascinating visit to the Ocean Explorer Centre.

STRONE PRIMARY SCHOOL GALA DINNER
On the 5th of February P5-7 hosted a Gala Dinner at Napier’s restaurant where we cooked and served a scrumptious dinner for parents and friends.
The evening was the finale of our ‘Food for Thought‘ topic that was a great team effort. We created a lovely menu using local produce, which included smoked salmon, venison and apples. We served 36 guests in total on the night.
Tables Turned on Dunoon Observer !
The tables were turned on the Observer today, when the interviewer became the interviewee. Reporter Georgia Love was at Dunoon Primary School to interview head teacher Mrs Stewart, only to be asked to be interviewed herself as part of a school project on news gathering. She was expertly “grilled” by Callum Crofts and the whole thing was filmed by David MacGillivray.
DGS Debates on Trident
On Friday the 18th December, the pupils of Dunoon Grammar School took part in a whole school debate on ‘should the UK government renew Trident?’ This was the culmination of three weeks of preparation, research and speech writing for everyone involved.
A letter from Professor Stephen Hawking to Caleb at Kirn
One of Kirn Primary’s P7 pupils, Caleb McLeod, received a very surprising letter sent by no less than Professor Stephen Hawking himself! Professor Hawking was replying to a letter Caleb wrote at the end of last session to Professor Hawking as part of a P6 letter writing project.

Strone Primary visit to Morrisons
The P5-7 class enjoyed a look behind the scenes at Morrisons store in Dunoon, as part of their Food For Thought project. Pupils were given a tour of the food preparation areas, and found out about local produce and food journeys. They were also given a front of house experience on the check-out! Afterwards the pupils managed to fit in some carol singing to raise funds towards their residential next summer.

Dunoon Primary Win Inter School Speech Contest!
Dunoon Primary have been very busy preparing speeches for this years contest. The annual school competition at Dunoon was well attended by parents and members of the Association of Speakers Club Dunoon, who worked diligently coaching the young speakers.
The ten finalists displayed excellent speaking skills and delivered the most interesting topics – to name a few Piper Alpha, The European Refugee Crisis and My Asthma.

Christmas Spirit at St. Joseph’s
The children and parents of St. Joseph’s were recently asked to donate luxury food items to school during the season of advent to assist those in need in the community. As a tradition St Joseph’s has always made food bags and given them to the senior citizens in the area. However, this year we decided to spread the Christmas cheer even further. We were overwhelmed by the generosity of parents and pupils and were not only able to give food bags to the senior citizens but also made healthy donations of food to the Food bank in Helensburgh. Our Visit to Winston Churchill’s by P5 pupil Brooklyn
On Thursday the 26th November, Strone Primary School went to Winston Churchill’s to talk to them about venison and all the things that you can make from venison. We wanted to visit because we wanted to find local produce that we could use for our evening meal that we are cooking in The Pier Hotel in Kilmun in the New Year.
We had decided upon venison sausages and wanted to see how they are made and where they come from.

St Andrew’s Day at St Andrew’s Primary School
Pupils at St. Andrew’s Primary School treated their parents and parishioners to an afternoon of poetry, song, dance and art on St. Andrew’s Day. The celebration of teaching and learning was the culmination of a weeklong learning journey by each class exploring all things Scottish.
Primary 6/7 shared their learning about the life and times of our national bard, Robert Burns, and sang a beautiful rendition of Leezie Lindsay before encouraging school mates and parents to join in with the rousing Charlie is My Darling.

Salen Primary Hosts Rugby World Cup
Five countries battled for supremacy with Ireland achieving world domination when they scooped up the prestigious Rugby World Cup at Salen Primary School.
This event was made possible with the help of Mr Gus Whyte who kindly refereed and Mrs Babs Whyte, PE Teacher. The children of Salen Primary School were joined by children from Lochdonhead Primary and Ulva Primary Schools as part of their normal PE sessions. After last Terms IDL on the Scottish Parliament, where the children of Primary 7/6 researched how a democracy works and how elections are run, the children and staff of St. Mun’s went to the polls to cast their votes on who should represent the School for the session 2015/16.

Primary Four Harvest Festival Assembly
This term, Primary Four reached out into their local community as part of their learning. They wanted to gain a deeper understanding of the importance that local organisations play in providing the needs of their local community. By investigating the traditions behind Harvest, the children decided to contact Helensburgh and Lomond Foodbank to see how they could help the individuals and families in their community who are not able to fully enjoy the Harvest Festival.
World War One display at Battle of Loos commemoration day exhibition.
Pupils at Southend Primary School have been enjoying learning about World War One. Their fantastic model of the trenches, paintings, letters, personal projects, and memorabilia were on display at the Battle of Loos World War One commemoration day exhibition, in the Victoria Hall, Campbeltown, on Saturday 26th September for all to see.
