On the 5th of February P5-7 hosted a Gala Dinner at Napier’s restaurant where we cooked and served a scrumptious dinner for parents and friends.
The evening was the finale of our ‘Food for Thought‘ topic that was a great team effort. We created a lovely menu using local produce, which included smoked salmon, venison and apples. We served 36 guests in total on the night.
There was a lot of planning and preparation that went into staging the event. One of the highlights was having a trial run of cooking all the courses for the meal itself. We went over to the West College in Greenock and worked alongside professional chefs who passed on their skills and expertise. We have all learned so much from the experience.
We made tickets, menus, table decorations etc. We all had a job to do on the evening from either cooking in the hotel kitchen to serving people front of house. The evening was a great success so all the hard work paid off.
The class would like to thank Mrs. Brayshaw who inspired us and made learning to cook such fun, her daughter Lizzie, Mrs. Brown, Ian from Napier’s Hotel and Restaurant and Alexander and Teaguen, trainee chefs from the West College.
