The children and parents of St. Joseph’s were recently asked to donate luxury food items to school during the season of advent to assist those in need in the community. As a tradition St Joseph’s has always made food bags and given them to the senior citizens in the area. However, this year we decided to spread the Christmas cheer even further. We were overwhelmed by the generosity of parents and pupils and were not only able to give food bags to the senior citizens but also made healthy donations of food to the Food bank in Helensburgh.
St joseph’s regularly supports the Foodbank but this time the items were more festive in nature thus ensuring that some Christmas cheer could be spread to those who need to avail themselves of the Foodbank at Christmas. Mary McGinlay of the Helensburgh Foodbank came up to school to collect the donations last week and was both really impressed and grateful to all concerned.
Hi St Joseph’s. Well Done for being such Responsible Citizens. Miss Collins and your Teachers must be very proud of you for thinking of others less fortunate than yourselves, especially at this time of year.
It’s great to encourage the pupils to think of someone else at Christmas time. It is so easy to forget why we celebrate Christmas. This is a great way to show practical love for other people. Well done!
