Ellie has just moved up to the Blue Stripe level in Taekwon-Do! What a great achievement! Well done!
P5 and P5/4 give generously
Pranks in P1.
P1a’s and P1b’s teachers swapped classes this morning to play a prank on the boys and girls. Miss Toner’s class were met by Mrs Macdonald and P1b were met by Miss Toner. What was going on ? We told the boys and girls that Mrs Brown had decided to swap teachers around ! There were a lot of confused little faces . After a few minutes, some of the class guessed ! We were playing a little trick. Ha ha ! April Fools Day everyone !
Happy Easter from Primary 5!
Musical Megan!
Megan impressed us this morning with a lovely rendition of ‘Twinkle Twinkle’ on her violin. She has been practising lots and felt comfortable and confident to share her music with her class. Well done Megan! We were very impressed!
Easter Egg Bonanza
This morning Primaries 2 and 2/1 went on an Easter Egg Hunt. They found a coloured envelope in their classroom containing a nursery rhyme clue to solve:
‘Hickory dickory dock, the mouse ran up the _______’ which led them to the next clue which was hidden at the clock! The hunt took us outside and thankfully we were all confident with our nursery rhymes and were able to solve every clue.
There was a basket filled with yummy creme eggs as a treat for us at the end of the hunt!
Happy Easter everyone!
Milo’s Medal!
Child line come to visit

safe from harm
The NSPCC came to speak to Primary 6&7 today to talk about the purpose of Childline. We learned how heavy worries and concerns can be to carry around with us and the importance of speaking to someone about them. They will be back in a few weeks to. Art out some workshops in our classes.
Decorate the Easter Egg competition
Slide the coin
Well done Aoibhe and Harry !
Primary 3 Easter Egg Hunt on Onesie Day!

The Eclipse
Perfect timing!
Primary 6 recently learned all about light and shadows and along comes a partial eclipse to help us understand it all.
Primary 6 witnessed the eclipse (safely) last week through various means. We watched it live on the interactive board, saw it through special glasses that Noah brought in and also by using a pin hole camera made by Mrs Buchanan-Coutts; Rachael brought one in too. It was absolutely fascinating, but also quite eerie when all the birds started to get confused!!
Rewards Cashed In
Primary 6A collect Dojo points on a daily basis for lots of things, such as attendance, following instructions, working hard, participating in discussions, completing homework, being prepared for lessons and teamwork.
There are several ways to spend our points – we can use the teacher’s chair for a day, have extra netbook time, give some of our points to a friend and ask them to be a personal assistant for the day or get a homework pass.
Recently, some of the class cashed in their points for a reward by having lunch with the teacher. We put on some tunes, sat round the table chatting, enjoyed some yummy doughnuts and had a boogie. It was great fun.
Onsie Day!!
Annie – a memorable performance
Article 29
Our education allows us to share our talents.
This week the school has been ringing out with music, as the stars of the school production of ‘Annie’ were able to share their hard work with their friends and family. The cast, who have been working hard on the show for only seven weeks, performed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week to packed audiences.
Set in 1930s New York, Annie tells the story of an eleven-year-old girl, who has been living in the horrid Miss Hannigan’s orphanage for girls her whole life. She has the dream that one day she will be reunited with the parents who left her a letter and a locket so many years ago. Annie’s quest to find her real parents and the adoption by the billionaire businessman Oliver Warbucks is what provides dramatic plot for this spectacular and heart-warming musical.
We would like to thank all the parents, grandparents and friends who have donated their time, props, costumes, and for supporting learners in their learning of lines and dance routines.
Every single performer gave everything they had, helping to make this production so successful.
Thanks are due to all the staff who helped with auditions, rehearsals and backstage. Of course, the entire performance could not have happened if it were not for all the brilliantly talented actors, actresses and chorus who helped to make the event so memorable. Well done everyone!
Here’s just a few photos with lots more to come. Please leave a comment about your thoughts on the production…
Amazing Artists in p3b!
Primary 3b have been learning about Easter. This morning the children used their artistic talents to create these beautiful paintings using watercolours.
Absolutely Amazing “Annie”
P1b having fun in Fairyland !
P1 have been busy today making final preparations for our Fairyland showcase. We made crowns, fairy wands and wrote a story about the big bad wolf.
When writing our story, we had to pretend that we were the big bad wolf and think of reasons why he ate Little Red Riding Hood and Grandma. After a super discussion we all agreed that maybe the poor wolf hadn’t eaten for days and that is why he ate them both. Maybe Little Red Riding Hood was mean to him and he decided to gobble her up ! Who knows !
We hope that you can make it along to our Fairlyland showcase. Just a reminder to you all that it will be on Wednesday, 2nd of April at 2.00pm in our classroom. Hope to see lots of you there.
We hope to see lots of mummies, daddies , grannies and grandads on this day.
What big teeth you have granny!
The dragon left us a special surprise! Little Red Riding Hood’s basket, with treats inside for her grandma. The dragon wanted us to learn all about this story. We had great fun learning about the characters in the story, sequencing the story, drawing pictures of our own grans and painting the characters too!

Fantastic Presentations from p3b!
For the past 2 weeks, primary 3 have been preparing wonderful presentations as a homework challenge. On Tuesday everyone shared their presentation with the whole class. Everyone was absolutely fantastic! The pupils stood confidently at the front of the class and had to use a big loud voice as well as make eye contact with the audience. The topics chosen by the pupils were great and it was fantastic to hear each child talk in detail about something they are interested in. It was clear to see how much effort had been put into preparing the presentations. The variety of posters, powerpoints, props and video clips was amazing!
A huge WELL DONE to all the children in primary 3, you were all stars and I am so proud of you! I enjoyed every one of your presentations and I learned lots of new things!
Miss Irvine : )
Presentations in P3a!
WOW! I am AMAZED with the hard work and effort of the boys and girls in Primary 3! Two weeks ago they were set a homework challenge… to do a presentation in front of the class about any subject of their choice.
The results were FANTASTIC! We had outfits, trophies, medals, photos, posters, dvds, songs, powerpoints… even a cake! We all learned so much from listening to each other… we learned about countries, hobbies, pets, games, history, animals, football teams and very special people!
At the end of the presentations the ‘judging panel’ gave feedback to the presenter about their delivery, content and style.
Overall the presentations were excellent, it was lovely to see and hear the children talking about something they are passionate about.
A HUGE WELL DONE TO EVERYONE! I AM VERY PROUD OF YOU AND ALL YOUR HARD WORK!
From Miss King 🙂
Goodies in P1b !
Today we were left another lovely surprise in our classroon after lunch ! A basket ! But, not any old basket, for this basket was full of goodies. There were sandwiches, cookies, biscuits, a donut , healthy grapes and milk. Yummy ! Who could have left us such delicious treats ?
LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD !
Thank you for visiting our class today. We had lots of fun with your fairytale. We sequenced the story and wrote all about our favourite part in our castle booklets.
Swimmer of the week!
Measure
Primary 2 have been busy learning about Measure. We have been measuring items in our classroom using our feet, hands, straws and cubes. We know that normally our mums and dads would use rulers and measuring tapes to measure things in our house but before we start to learn about that we need to be confident measuring using non-standard units. We realise that our measurements won’t all be the same when we use our hands and feet because they are all different sizes from each other. Have a look at us in action!
Taking care of our plants
Primary 1 have been learning about living things and how to take care of them. Our ‘beanstalks’ were looking quite squashed in their small pots, their roots definitely needed more space. We decided to replant them into bigger pots before we take them home next week. Halfway through replanting, we ran out of soil! This was a great opportunity to get out in the sunshine and collect some more.
Well done primary 1.
Miss Toner
(CANCELLED!) FOOTBALL ON FRIDAY!
Fit Kids in P1b!
We had a good old boogie woogie this afternoon in P1b. We had to learn a dance routine about pirates. We learnt the routine bit by bit then pieced it all together to creatre a super dance. It was great fun ! We were very energetic showing off all of our moves. By the end of the dance there were lots of red faces. We are fit kids !
The Magic Castle Showcase
Primary 4 would like to remind all parents that we are having our showcase of the Magic Castle this Friday. We can’t wait to share our learning with you. We hope you can make it.
Primary 4 witches and wizards.
Time Fun!
Primary 4 have been learning about time. We have been reading the time on digital and analogue clocks. For homework we created our own time game using our knowledge of time. We had fun playing each others games. We had loop card games, matching games, board games and memory games. Well done Primary 4!
P1b’s news and birthday greetings !
Today, Evan, Kamaren, Connor and Arran would like to share their writing in their news jotters with you. Well done boys ! When reading today’s diairies I was really impressed to see capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. I also noticed that there were lots of birthdays at the weekend. We have one today too ! A big happy birthday to Arran, Finn and Zach.

GOLDILOCKS IS WANTED!
Primary 1a and Primary 1b came into the classroom and discoved a message from the dragon. Goldilocks is WANTED by the three bears but she is nowhere to be found!
We created fantastic WANTED posters and displayed them around the school. We think she might turn up on Monday…
P1 and the Solar Eclipse.
We learnt all about the solar eclipse this morning. We learnt that in a solar eclipse, the moon moves between the Earth and the Sun. When this happens, part of the Sun’s light is blocked. The sky slowly gets dark as the moon moves in front of the Sun. When the moon and Sun are in a perfect line, it is called a total eclipse. These are very rare. We weren’t even born when the last one happened in 1999.
We could see from inside our classroom that the sky was becoming darker, then at 9.35am Mrs Macdonald quickly ran out of the fire door in our class to take some pictures. It wasn’t safe for us to go outside without special sunglasses on.Mrs Macdonald was very careful and made sure that she didn’t look directly at the Sun as this is very dangerous. We learnt today that you should never look directly at the Sun as this can damage your eyes.
Here are some of the pictures taken this morning. As you can see, the sky over Broxburn turned very very dark.
Our Learning Log
Primaries 2 and 2/1 have had a busy week! In Maths we have been measuring and have been investigating to find things that are tall and short. In P2a we discovered that Kordian was the tallest in our class and Chloe was the shortest. In P2/1 Alan was the tallest and Tatenda was the shortest. We used cubes which are a non-standard unit of measure to sort characters from Aladdin and measure them.
In Literacy we read a new book called ‘Who’s our new teacher’ and we worked in pairs to make up questions for the big green dragon. We used the words why, where, how, when and what and had to remember to use a question mark at the end of our sentence.
We have also been building up an interesting story about our magic carpet adventure. This week we wrote an interesting middle where we met a character in our story.
I met a giant baby in Egypt. – Archie
I met Prince Charming. – Aisha
I met Santa in the North Pole. – Chloe
I met a dancing Daisy in beautiful Field Land. – Natalia
I met a flying unicorn. – Zuzanna.
I met a shark in Australia. – Stephen
We also learned about St Patrick and made brightly coloured rainbow mobiles with a lucky shamrock and pot of gold hanging from them. We know that St Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland.
Wow! What a busy week we have had. We are looking forward to learning lots more next week!
P1 and the hunt for Goldilocks
Today we all made a WANTED poster , appealing for help to find Goldilocks. We will stick some of these up around our school , just in case she decides to come back. We hope that we find her because we would like to have a chat with her about breaking other people’s things. We will also be telling her off for going into the bear’s house . So silly as she didn’t even know any of the three bears. Our teachers have reminded us all today about what we do to keep ourselves safe.
Tickets for Sale!!
Tickets for St Nicholas’ production of Annie are selling fast – particularly the Monday and Wednesday evening. Although there are a few tickets left for these performances, there are quite a few left for the Tuesday afternoon show. If you would like to purchase a ticket, at a cost of £3.00 each, please contact the office.
The children have put a lot of effort into this production and it would be fantastic to see the hall filled for them to show off their talents.
Amazing Mathematicians in p3!
Congratulations to the winners of the primary 3 Sumdog competition!
In 1st place was Anna Keogh. Anna worked really hard and answered an amazing 10,677 questions correctly!
In 2nd place was Mercedes Finnigan who answered 10,050 questions correctly!

Well done girls, you are superstars! : )
An invitation from P1a and P1b
Dear P1a/P1b mummies, daddies and friends,
P1a and P1b are really looking forward to showcasing their Fairyland work on Wednesday, 1st of April at 2.00pm. Please make a note of this in your diary and come along if you can. We love having visitors in our classes, especially our mummies and daddies.

P1a and P1b.
Huffing and Puffing in P1b.

After tidying up the mess that Goldilocks made , we decided to have some fun , so we read ‘The Three Little Pigs’ fairy tale. After hearing this story , we decided to make a start on building the three pigs houses. What fun we had ! We didn’t realise how hard it was being a builder !
Before we set to work building, we worked on a design. We had to think carefully how we wanted our house to look and the materials that we would need to help us. This was fun. All of the designs looked fantastic.
With our designs in hand, we donned our hard hats and worked collaboratively to build the houses. They are still under construction, but we will allow you a sneaky peek at what we have done so far.
Silly Goldilocks!
We returned from lunch time today to a BIG shock! Our classroom was in a right old mess! There were spoons lying on the floor, chairs scattered on the floor and lots and lots and lots of crunchy crumbs scattered on the carpet! Mrs Macdonald was so sad ! Mrs Thomson quickly got the hoover so that Mrs Macdonald could hoover up the mess. The boys and girls counted to see how long it took for the carpet to look tidier. It took 100 seconds ! Super counting everyone !
We had a quick discussion, who could have done such a thing to our lovely classroom?Jacob told us that the crunchy crumbs were, in fact, PORRIDGE OATS ! Goldilocks!!!!! Primary 1b are not happy with you !
We will need to write about this in our castle book. What will the friendly dragon say ?
Primary 3 Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!
Today we had a great day celebrating St. Patrick’s Day! We learned about the life of St. Patrick in Literacy, Maths and R.M.E lessons. We read all about the symbols of St. Patrick’s day then answered comprehension questions. We used our knowledge of times tables to create a picture of a leprechaun and we learned how St. Patrick used a shamrock to tell people about God and the Holy Trinity. After looking at symbols of luck, we discussed how we are all lucky in different ways.
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day from P1b.
Today the boys and girls learnt all about St. Patrick and Irish customs. We watched a short film about St Patrick’s life. It is was very interesting. We had our listening ears on and were able to remember lots of facts about him.
We learnt that :
He was born in Wales (Harry).
He was captured by pirates (Zach).
He was taken on a boat to Ireland (Kai).
He had to look after sheep when he was captured (Finlay F).
Patrick prayed to God when he was on the island (Neve P).
Once he escaped he decided to become a priest and he studied for lots of years. (Aoibhe).
He went back to Ireland and helped the people to believe in God (Finn).
Mrs Thomson came into our class told us lots of things too about St Patrick’s day and about Ireland. She showed us the beautiful shamrock that her mummy posted her from Dublin. We learnt that shamrock is Ireland’s flower. It is very pretty. We are going to use Mrs Thomson’s s cutting to try to grow more lovely shamrocks.
We also learnt that Irish boys and girls have the day off from school. They celebrate the day by going to Mass before watching a St Patrick’s day parade in town. Mrs Thomson made us laugh when she told us that when she was a little girl she used to go to McDonalds on St Patrick’s day and order a green milkshake. We didn’t know that there was such a thing ! We rounded off our afternoon by making a lucky leprechaun. Harry and Aoibhe also showed us the lovely St Patrick’s day badges and leprechauns that brought in specially. We loved them!
Happy St Patrick’s day to all of our family and friends,
love from P1b and Mrs Macdonald.

Well done to Hannah Spence (P6) and Chloe Smith (P7) for playing cornet with West Lothian Schools Junior Concert Band in the West Lothian Schools Spring Concert series in Inveralmond CHS on Friday 6th March. Both girls have rehearsed with the band on Friday afternoons in St Margaret’s from 1.30pm – 3pm. The concert was well received by parents, families, Councillors, Moira Niven as well as music teacher’s from our Twinning Association’s in Germany and Poland.
Quality Discussion
Article 12
You have the right to an opinion and for it to be listened to and taken seriously.
Primary 6 have been demonstrating their quality communication skills. As part of our new Social Subjects topic, we are all working in groups to learn about different countries in Europe. In order to complete the challenge, we have to share our ideas, listen to each other and make sure that everyone in the group has their say and is participating – the discussion tokens help us do this.
We visited the library this week to get some books to help us and are looking forward to persuading our parents to visit out country during our open exhibition after the Easter holidays.
Grand Designs in the Nursery
In the nursery this morning we were really lucky to have a visit from one of our mums, Mrs Walsh, who came to speak with our nursery boys and girls about architecture, as over the last few weeks we have been learning a lot about buildings. Mrs Walsh showed the boys and girls lots of interesting things: how houses are designed; how they are built; and she brought in some building materials like hard hats, bricks, hi-viz vests and measuring tape for us to investigate. She also showed us some plans of the current P7 classrooms which were built a few years ago. We can’t wait until we get our new work done in school – we are looking forward to our big new gym hall.
Thanks Mrs Walsh!

Mummies are very special.
Primary 1 have spent a lot of time this week talking and thinking about our mummies. We spoke about what makes our mummy special. Miss Toner and Mrs Macdonald spoke about their mummies too. Miss Toner’s mummy is kind and funny. Mrs Macdonald told her boys and girls that her mummy gives good cuddles and makes the best cup of tea in the whole world ! We want our mummies to know that we love them very much.
Happy Mother’s Day when it comes to our lovely mummies.
Love from,
All of the boys and girls in P1a, P1b , Mrs Macdonald and Miss Toner.
P1a, P1b, Mrs Macdonald and Miss Toner.
Mother’s Day Song!
In Primary 2 we have been working hard to make some lovely things for our Mums! We have filled envelopes with surprises for our mums and we have also recorded a lovely song! We hope all our Mums have a wonderful Mother’s day! 🙂
Ready to be… Recycled!
One of the special jobs we are responsible for in Primary 3 is to empty and clean the recycling bins in the dinner hall.
Today we emptied lots of plastic bottles and cups from the bins and sent them to be recycled! Remember if you think the bins are getting a bit full speak to our Eco Monitors, Aimee or Esme who will arrange for them to be emptied.
The BIG copper collection!
Today the whole school worked together to gather all of their copper coins in a gigantic bottle.
We raised a grand total of £68 towards the Lenten appeal… wow! Who would have thought that all those 1p and 2p coins would have added up to £68?!
Well done everyone!
Mrs Deas
Owl Post
Primary 4 will be coming home today with owl post.
Today we made invitations to invite parents to our Magic Castle showcase on 27th March at 11am. We will give a guided tour of our Great Hall and have activities for parents to complete. We hope they can make it as we are really looking forward to it.

What’s the time Mr Wolf?
Sweeties in P1.
What a surprise we had today ! Whilst we were at lunch someone snuck into our classroom and left us a bag of sweeties ! We couldn’t believe it ! Attached to the bag of sweeties was a note saying ‘Guess who ! Love from 2 fairytale characters’. We racked our brains to try to guess who had left us some sweets. Was it Little Red Riding Hood ? Could it have been Puss ? Maybe even Goldilocks ? After a lot of discussion we finally guessed correctly. It was Hansel and Gretel ! Mrs Macdonald read the story to us and then gave us one of the sweeties to eat as a special treat. We then set off to work in groups designing sweeties, lollipops and candy canes. We also wrote about the story in our castle books that the dragon left us. It was a great afternoon.
Primary 3 Round Up!
Primary 3 are delighted to finally be able to begin sharing our learning with you!
Please look out for regular updates about all the fun we have been having and all the things we have been learning!
Here are some pictures of some of the things we have been getting up to…
Broxburn Football Tournament!
Well done to all the boys playing in the Broxburn Schools Football Tournament at the Albyn last Friday.
The Yellow, White and Green teams all had a great time and came back with some fantastic results!
A huge thank you to Mr Gorman and Mr Devlin for their continued support with the football teams!
Look out for pictures of our brand new strips- coming soon!
Writing fun in P1 !
We work hard in P1 to use our sounds to help us with our writing. We especially enjoy sharing our news after the weekend. Here are some of our weekend diaries. We write these on our own. If we are unsure of how to spell a word we use Fred talk to help us to break the word up into sounds. Mrs Macdonald is very proud of our writing and how hard we all try.

Time Around the World
This week Primary 5/4 have been carrying out some research into different time zones around the world. We found out that there are 24 different time zones.
To show off what we had learned we decided to make some clocks to display the times in different countries.
Abbie : I learned that some countries have the same time as us and some are in-front or behind us.
Haidyn: I learned that Hong Kong is 8 hours ahead of us. If it was 9.00 here it would be 5.00 in Hong Kong.
Grace: I learned that there are 24 time zones in the world.
Molly: I learned that we orbit the sun so different places in the world have sunlight at different times of the day. It can be day time here but night time in an other country.
Telling the time in P1b.
We are now learning to tell the time in our class. Harry told us all about the famous clock in London, Big Ben. He has a picture of this on his I pad ! We spoke about the clocks and watches that we have in our house. Some of us have lots of clocks ! We learnt that time never stops, it always keeps going. Chloe showed us her beautiful watch that she had on today. It has twelve numbers on it. We learnt that the special word for a clock or watch with twelve numbers – ANALOGUE. We played time games in our groups. We got to move the hands of the clock round, this was fun ! We are already very good at showing o’clock times. Well done everyone ! Tomorrow, we will make our own clocks and play more clock games.

Fairy tale Fun in P1b.
We started to read the famous fairy tale , ‘Puss in Boots’ today .The friendly dragon left us this in our class to read. Some of us already knew the story , Finn said that he had seen the movie. We heard all about the antics of Puss . He spoke in the story and that got us thinking, wouldn’t it be great if animals could really talk ?
I promised the boys and girls that I would check on my pussy cats when I got home and post a picture of one of the cats. As suspected, they were all fast asleep when I arrived home. Maybe they have been on their own adventures today whilst I have been at school ! We will finish reading ‘Puss in Boots’ tomorrow.
See you all tomorrow,
Mrs Macdonald.
Super Swimmer
Parable of the Mustard Seed
Primary 2 have been learning the parable of the mustard seed. We looked at mustard seeds and noticed that they were tiny! Mustard seeds are one of the smallest seeds but when planted, they grows into a big trees! We watched this video about the parable of the mustard seed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnnxF-dg6SM which explained how the mustard seed was like our faith. All we need is a little bit of faith and God will help our faith to grow just like he helps the mustard seeds to grow! We have to make sure that we look after the mustard seeds to help them grow and we also have to make sure we talk to God so that he can help our faith grow! We also really liked the song at the end of the video :). Primary 2 then planted mustard seeds in plastic cups. Take a look at our pictures!
Beanstalk update!
Tobacco Education
The Scottish Government Tobacco Control Strategy’s target for 2034 is to have less than 5% of the Scottish population to be smoking. They are hoping by then that it will be normal NOT to smoke. Some of our families have chosen to support the Smoke Free Homes and Zones Project.
Many thanks to Janet and Alison for all their input.
Fairytale Friday
Dressing up fun in Primary 1 !
Dressing up is such fun ! We have had lots of opportunities since starting P1b to dress up in various costumes. We dressed up in spooky costumes for Hallowe’en, dressed up for our Nativity play and more recently we dressed up as a book character for World Book Day. Mrs Macdonald finds it hard to recognise us all when we dress up !
Our next dressing up day ( non – uniform day) will be on Friday, 13th of March. Please remember to bring in 50p. All of our 50ps will go towards our Lenten Charity Appeal.
Kind regards,
Mrs Macdonald.
Magical measurement!
More Wonderful Work !
We really enjoy working together with our shoulder partners, in groups and at home with our mummies and daddies. Here are some lovely photographs of us working together. We have also included photos of our puppets. We worked really hard at home with the help of our mummies and daddies to create these. These looked wonderful in our class.
Well done everyone !
Raising of the Commonwealth Flag
Nicole in P7b represented our school today when she attended the Raising of the Commonwealth Flag event at the Civic Centre. She was flying the flag for South Africa as her family originates from there.
Well done Nicole, you are a true asset to St. Nicholas Primary School.
Eco News !
We are very proud to say that we have three Green Flags at St. Nicholas ! We worked really hard to achieve these awards. We had to pick up litter, watch our energy consumption and do lots of recycling to get our flags. With this in mind, P1b have noticed recently that parts of our playground are looking untidy with litter lying around. The Eco Team would like to remind everyone that litter needs to be put in the bin.
The Eco Team will be meeting on Thursday, 19th of March to discuss this issue and lots of other exciting ideas that we have. Watch this space !
Mrs Macdonald.
Annie Jnr
Article 29
Our education should provide us with the opportunity to share our talents.
Well, our Annie rehearsals are really coming together. We certainly have a fantastic bunch of enterprising entrepreneurs, creative artists and budding actors. We will be having a full dress rehearsal on the afternoon of Monday 23rd March, in which we will invite the rest of the school to watch.
The show dates have been finalised and tickets will be on sale soon. They are as follows:
Monday 23rd March – 6pm
Tuesday 24th March – 1pm
Thursday 26th March – 6pm
We have begun to issue costume details to individual cast members and have requested that all chorus orphans bring in dull (grey, black or brown), old, ill-fitting clothing that you wouldn’t mind being ripped or dirtied a bit. If these could be brought in in a carrier bag with their name on it, it would make it easier to keep a track of costumes.
Further information will be issued soon, but in the meantime, if you can help with other props or costumes (listed below), please just let Mrs Buchanan-Coutts know – we would be extremely grateful.
Flat caps, trilby, waistcoats, tweed style jacket, long coats (men and woman), feather boas, pin-stripe suit (men/woman), old tattered small suitcase, old style radio, camp bed or sun-loungers.
V.I.P.s (Very important people/predators in P1b).
We have had lots of V.I.Ps visiting P1b. We have had one of our mummies, one of our daddies and another teacher coming into class to show us their favourite toy. We have even had a visit from beautiful owls when we were learning about ‘Light and Dark’. We would like to say a big thank you to all of our visitors.
Wonderful Work !
P1 and P2 Scoot and Skip!
Fun in P1b !

We also had Harry Potter, Drako Malfoy and Hermione from Harry Potter. We have been reading this in class.

World Book Day!
World Book Day
As today is World Book Day, lots of us came to school dressed as our favourite characters from our favourite books. This morning in class we read our favourite stories and then listened to a story and poem by Roger McGough on BBC Autors Live. We wrote about our favourite book and character and asked our friends what their favourite book is and why.
Mandipa – I love “Alice Miranda at School” by Jacqueline Harvey because the girl in the story is very brave as she leaves her parents and starts boarding school.
Jaime – My favourite stories are “Katie Morag” by Mairi Hedderwick. I like them because they are based in Scotland and Katie Morag is not afraid of anything. She goes on lots of adventures on the Isle of Struay.
Eoin – Roald Dahl is my favourite author and I really enjoy reading “Danny the champion of the World”. In the book Danny and his dad come up with a plot against the evil Mr Victor Hazell!
We are resilient!
Primaries 2 and 2/1 have been learning about being resilient. We watched a video of Mr Bump and noticed that when he fell over, he just got back up and tried again! We found out that the word resilient means that we don’t give up when we find something difficult, we just try again! We discovered that different people find different things difficult, but that it’s important to keep trying! We then drew a picture of something that we find tricky and wrote a sentence about resilience. Take a look at some of them!
After we drew our pictures we sang the song Incy Wincy. We noticed that Incy Wincy was resilient because even though the rain washed him away he climbed up the spout again! We then learned another verse to Incy Wincy which was :
When you face a challenge, do the best you can.
We all feel down when things don’t go to plan.
Look on the bright side. Have another try.
Be like Incy Wincy, and keep on aiming high!
Primary 2 are resilient!
