Primary 4 28.5.21

We have some new friends in Primary 4 this week to go along with our mini-beasts topic. Our happy little caterpillars have finally arrived and have been wiggling around and have settled in well to Primary 4. They are hungry wee caterpillars and we’re hopeful that in no time at all we’ll see them grow and grow on the way to becoming beautiful butterflies.

Staying with topic we have been developing our art skills this week using pencil sketching to draw some amazing and detailed mini beast artwork. The pupils had the choice of ladybug, spider or worm and the pupils really showed their enthusiasm and their eye for detail.

We have been continuing our recount writing topic and used A Bug’s Life to retell a very dramatic scene with the bugs trying to escape a hungry bird. The pupils were able to retell the scene using great description and story-telling ability. In reading we’ve been making great progress through Charlotte’s Web and the pupils seem to be very enthusiastic about the story. We’ve had some great ideas about how the story will end and some good discussions about the lovely relationship between Wilbur and Charlotte.

Pupils have been strutting their stuff this week in PE with the flash-mob rehearsals in full swing. The smiles on faces and enthusiasm in doing the moves has been amazing to see and we hope they’ll have been cha-cha-cha-ing around the house all week!

Reminders:

PE – Monday and Thursday.

This Thursday (3rd June) will see Primary 4 take part in their Sports Day events. If possible, can pupils please come dressed in PE kit with an item of clothing to match the colour of their house.

This Thursday will also be our Talent Show auditions and all pupils are welcome to sign up to show off their skills!

Thank you for your hard work and support,

Miss Clark and Mr Woodward

Primary 5

The Christmas Holidays are almost upon us!

The children have had a busy week doing all things Christmassy! The talent show on Monday was very enjoyable and there was a variety of acts on show. Ask your child which one was their favourite.

on Tuesday the children made crackers with Mrs Muir and Mr Shanks. They had to use a lot of different skills to make each part of the cracker and all children managed to make one. Hopefully you were able to pull it with them at home.

P5 performed brilliantly at the P1 and and P2/3 Nativities. Their singing was beautiful and the actions for the last song really added to the occasion. Well done to all in P5.

Thank you for all your support and help this year. We hope you all have a happy Christmas and a restful holiday.

See you in 2020!

Mrs Gilmour, Miss Morris, Mr Shanks, Mrs Muir

Primary 5

In P5G during writing the children wrote letters to Santa to persuade him to deliver their presents. There were some good persuasive reasons given. I think Santa will need to deliver all presents now! In P5M during writing the children wrote letters to persuade Santa to give them a job as an Elf. They had to pick a specific job and explain why they would be good at it. It looks like Santa is going to have lots of helpers this year as the reasons given were so persuasive.

Primary 5 will be singing at the beginning of the P1 and P2/3 Nativities. The children have worked hard to learn the words and their singing is sounding beautiful. They performed in front of the school during the dress rehearsals and did very well. We are all looking forward to performing at the Nativities for the parents/carers/relatives/friends next week

In science the children are making good progress with their fact files on their chosen endangered animal. Many are beginning to finish and are now thinking about their class talk. The children have to use their fact file to help them prepare a class talk about their endangered animal. You may wish to help them prepare this over the weekend. Please feel free to email any power points to the school email address.

On Tuesday P5 had their Christmas party at 1.15pm. The children were very excited and the noise level was very high! However a good time was had by all and Mr Shanks was excellent at leading the dancing during The Music Man song.

Both classes held auditions for our yearly Christmas Talent Show. A variety of acts performed and then the children voted for their favourite act. It was a difficult choice as all the acts were very good. Well done to Isla, Tegan, Katie and Zara from P5G who will be performing a dance to Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin Stevens. Also well done to Tyler from P5M who will be singing Count on Me by Bruno Mars.

Primary 6 15.12.17

We had a very creative start to the week as Primary six constructed different aspects of the nativity story from a variety of recycled materials. Their creations were so successful that we felt we had to invite the rest of the school to see them!

We were privileged to see the dress rehearsals for the nursery and infant classes’ nativities. We thought they were fantastic. Their parents and visitors are in for a treat next week.

Auditions were held for the school talent show next week. Well done to all the acts that entered what a talented bunch we have. We wish the two acts which were selected from primary six the very best of luck.

On Thursday it was our Christmas jumper day and everyone looked very festive and jolly and of course in between all these festivities we continued working hard at multiplication and division!

We had our primary six assembly this morning and it was a great success! There were amazing teamwork skills on display and we are very proud of the hard work and presentation skills of ALL the pupils.

REMINDERS –
PE – outdoor Kit on Mondays / Indoor kit on Wednesdays

Homework – Spelling Test will take place on Monday and will include words from the last six weeks.

Maths Homework – we would like to remind all pupils that they have maths homework EVERY WEEK. If we do not give out maths homework in the form of worksheet we still expect the pupils to be practising Times Tables, Fact Families, and Number Bonds. We have shown the pupils’ games and activities they can do to practise.

Thank for your continued support.
Mrs Wylie, Mr. Woodward and Mr Shanks
