P7 Absolutely Amazing Athletics
Yesterday primary 7 went to Craigshill Leisure Centre to take part in the annual cluster sports day.
In these pictures we are doing the relay races. We were to run up to a cone then run behind our teams, then back to the front and pass the baton.
Katie says “We came second and third in the final races.”
Deacon says “It was amazing and fun!”
Beth K says “It was entertaining.”
In these pictures below we are doing the standing long jump
We were to stand behind a line and jump as far as we could and try to get as high a score as we could.
Overall, we had a fantastic day. Â It was a good opportunity to for teamwork and communication with the people in our class.

P7, Happy and Healthy!
On Tuesday, Primary 7 took a trip to the James Young High School for their Health Conference. Â We enjoyed a day of sporting activities, such as Rugby, Tennis, Handball and Dance. Â We found it helpful and interesting to find out our tutor groups and had a chance to meet some new friends. Â This trip to JYHS also made us more confident about going up to James Young and us moving on. We met the P.E teachers and Mrs. Hatch (The JYHS head teacher) also spoke to us about or move to JYHS.
Fraser “I really enjoyed meeting my tutor group and meeting new friends.”
Stewart “It was exciting because we got to meet our tutor group.”
Jack “I made a couple of friends. One of their names was Josh.”
Robbie “My favourite activity was definitely handball, it was really fun.”

Suspicion and suspense in P7a…..
In P7a this week, we have been writing in the mystery genre. Â We talked about features in a mystery genre such as red herrings, suspense, tension, clues and another word for a detective which is is a sleuth. Â After discussion, we realised that mystery writing is all about making the reader ask questions and then only answering them bit by bit. Â An animation we all watched together generated a lot of questions, just as a mystery story should! Â Why don’t you watch it and leave us a comment with the questions it made you ask?
We wanted to share some of our mystery writing with you…
Stewart: “The top of the gang was an eminence grise. Â He would not listen to the gang, perhaps only on occasion.”
Fraser: “I went to the toilet but I forgot to look at the sign. The toilet was out of order. I was too late. Â I heard the door click shut and then it locked…”
Robbie: ” Lying on the floor was the innocent body of Ashley, the woman who I normally work with. Â She had brutal injuries. I heard a thud…”
Amber:”I went looking for him but he had already disappeared…”
Ellis: “No car was in sight. Â Everything was conventional but a for file in among all the garbage. Â All it had in it was rent, payment and bills. Â I took it just in case.”

Spring has sprung….in P7a at least!
It might not feel like or look anything like Spring outside but, it’s a whole other story in P7 Science this week! Â We are investigating how flowering plants reproduce so, it’s time for some dissection!
Josh “It was more fun than a normal lesson!”
Ellis “I liked learning about the pollination, fertilisation and germination.”
Robbie “It’s cool to see the inside of a flower properly.”
Ryan “I didn’t know that was how flowers reproduced.”
Amber “I liked learning the parts of the flowers even though I sneezed a lot!”
Article 29:Â Your education should help you use and develop your talents and abilities. It should also help you learn to live peacefully, protect the environment and respect other people.
French is Fun!
Pupils are learning about different parts of the body in class. We have been singing , ” Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” in French as well as designing our own monster. This has let us use our reading and writing skills. We also used our talking skills when we described our monster to someone else.
We are looking forwards to finding out all about different types of food and studying the story of “Camille, la petite Chenille”- The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
P7a go Eco Wild!
During Eco week Primary 7a set themselves the challenge of creating life-like wildlife art work. Â It took a lot of perseverance (and working through our frustrations) Â to create images that had all the correct visual details that would bring our wild animals to life. Â Have a look at some of our finished masterpieces!
We also investigated food chains and webs in our science work, identifying ‘producers’, ‘primary consumers’ and ‘secondary consumers’. Â We considered and discussed the changes that can happen in an ecosystem and to food chains when we make changes in our world.
It’s more fun that it sounds, especially when you get to learn by singing (and dancing for those who felt like it) the information!
