P4 have been reading The Twits translated into Scots. It’s called the Eejits and Mrs Hocknull is finding it very hard to read!!
We are going to be reading a variety of Scottish books this month….
P4 and P4/5 have been learning about length in Maths. We have been measuring using rulers, metre sticks and trundle wheels. We have been measuring in metres, centimetres and millimetres.
We wrote acrostic poems using the word GRIT as our inspiration. This was a great word to use for our discussion on how we learn and how to get out of the Learning Pit.
We have been watching Jack’s You Tube channel in class! He has been making mini animation movies using an animation kit he got during the holidays. He uploads these to his very own You Tube channel!
Carlos went the extra mile at home and designed his own Learning Pit and acrostic poem. We love your enthusiasm Carlos!
We made kilts with Mrs Hocknull on Monday and everybody is practising a Scottish poem for the schools Burns competition.
In maths class we are doing measuring with rulers using cm mm and we have are starting to learn about castles which is our topic for this term.
In drug education, we have been thinking about what drugs are good for you and bad for you and we have made Scottish comic strips in writing.

P4 have been busy learning about different types of electricity. We carried out experiments and wrote up the results.
We used lemon clocks, balloons, a marble run and even had an experiment where we pinged elastic bands!!
We have two entrepreneurs in the school! Jack from P4 and Mael from P4/5 decided to make a comic book selling business to raise money for Jak’s Den and the school.
They worked very hard to make the comics at home and sell them at lunch time in the small hall. The comic was about a minion called Indiana Bobby who thought he was Indiana Jones! They decided to charge £1 for large comics and 50p for smaller ones.
We are all very proud of Jack and Mael and Mrs Stewart can’t wait to put her feet up and read her comic during the Christmas holidays!
P4 reflect on aspects of their learning at points throughout the day using our thought wall. They are posed a reflective question and write their own individual answer on their thought bubble.
