Spooky Goings On in P1/2

As it was Halloween at the start of the week, we were very lucky to have Mrs Stewart come in for a visit to read ‘Potion Commotion’.  P1/2 were a super audience and enjoyed joining in with the rhymes in the story.

In maths this week we have practising our addition again and have been looking at 2D and 3D shapes and their properties.  We were very lucky when our parent helper, Miss Graham, took us on a shape hunt around the school.  We spotted lots of different 2D and 3D shapes.  During activity time, Chloe made a super rectangle using the peg board.

In literacy we learned the g, v and x sounds.  We enjoyed designing vests and glasses and made some friendly foxes at the craft table.  We are getting better at blending our sounds to help us read words and also at listening to words and building them on our velcro boards.

Autumn is here in P4/5

In writing we have been using lots of adjectives, adverbs and similes to write an Autumn senses poem. Lucy and Erin were star writers. We are going to make a display from these once we have made fair copies. Watch this space for a photograph next week!!!

We have been learning how to tell the time on the clock. Darcy thinks that it is fun. Zoe thinks that 24 hour time is quite tricky but she is enjoying working with it. Sometimes the questions are quite challenging.

We have been working hard on our health work where we have been focusing on emotions. It has been ‘incredible’ and it’s going to be very exciting letting parents know what we have been doing on 18th November.

Our star reader this week was Kai who read with lots of expression.

Next week, we are lucky enough to be going to Bibleworld. We’ll let you know how we get on.

P1/2 Reporting Back on Last Week!

P1/2 worked really hard last week.   In maths we worked on counting groups of objects accurately and then worked out how many objects there were altogether.

In literacy we learned two new sounds ‘u’ and ‘d’.  We practised writing the sounds and using all of the set 1 sounds to read and make words.  We loved working at the craft table where we made umbrellas and dinosaurs.

We watched a live authors event and were a very attentive audience as the author read her book ‘Shifty McGifty and Slippery Sam’.  It was a very funny story and we enjoyed listening to it.  The illustrator of the book showed us step by step how to draw one of the main characters from the book.  It was great fun and we all did really well.  What do you think of our art work?  Mrs Lloyd and Mrs Stewart were very impressed!
