P4/5 Trip to Stirling Castle
Yesterday was our class trip to the most important castle in Scotland, Stirling Castle.
We met Sir William who took us on our War Wolf Tour. He took us to Queen Anne’s garden where we saw the boulders that were fired by King Edward’s army. He spoke to us about the castle defenses, which included murder holes, very thick oak doors, the portcullis and the archers. He also told us the story of the Scots (played by Chloe) vs. King Edward (played by Liam). We could not believe how many times the castle went from the Scots to King Edward and back. Sir William also showed us the siege weapons, some of which were the ‘holy water sprinkler’, axes, crossbows and longbows and a variety of siege engines. Sir William talked an awful lot about executing us, luckily we made it out alive!
P4 have had a busy weekend!
Hanna performed at the Usher Hall with her gymnastic club. They showcased Princess and the Frog and Madagascar. Well done Hanna!
Erin took part in an organised run on Dechmont Law on Sunday. She came 21st and got a medal!
Brooke and Zoe’s dancing group went to Blackburn Gala Day on Saturday. They took part in the parade showing off some of their moves and tricks.
Isabel was awarded a special Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebration Brownie badge on Sunday for taking part in celebrations at Inveralmond High School.
Healthy Homework!
Well done to Caleb Craig from P1b who took on one of the extra family learning homework challenges of making a healthy smoothie. Thank you to Caleb’s mum for sharing these fab photos with us. Well done – I bet your smoothie tasted fantastic!

P2 Olympics and sports day
P2 have been working very hard over the last couple of weeks to prepare their class talks about the Olympics. On Monday we heard amazing facts about the Olympics and some children made super models and Olympic crafts. Look at some of P2’s fantastic creations…
On Tuesday we had great fun at sports day!
On Wednesday we met our new teacher. We were all very excited to see which friends were in our class and visit our new classroom.
This week P2 have been extremely busy completing our CEM tests so we enjoyed reading outside on the grass as a reward.
We have been playing maths games on the laptops and we learnt how to log on to the laptops all by ourselves!
Well done to our star of the week Izaak!
Fun in the Sun!
Primary 1b have been working very hard over the past couple of weeks. In maths, we have been practising counting in twos and are getting better at this. Mrs Smail took us outside in small groups to practise jumping in twos along the number line. She was very impressed with our counting!
On Wednesday this week we enjoyed our sports day. The weather was very kind to us and we loved having all the parents there to watch us and cheer us on.
Now we are working hard on learning our lines for our assembly next week. We look forward to presenting this to the nursery children who will be coming into P1 on Wednesday and also to our own parents on Friday. We very much look forward to seeing you there!
Sports Day fun
P1a have had a busy week this week. We have been practising our lines ready for next weeks assembly.
We have been writing about our P1a highlights !!
We also really enjoyed taking part in Sports Day and we ran in lots of races and took part different sports stations!
It was great fun!!!
We also learnt about the lifecycle of a frog!
P 4/5
This week we worked very hard!
For writing we wrote about woodland life, to help us plan our writing we went down to the Lanthorn woods to look at the setting and come up with inspiration. We wrote a story where we were a woodland creature, the trip Lanthorn was interesting and very useful for us to describe our setting.
In maths we looked at patterns with numbers and shapes. Most of us found it very fun and easy.
We used curling stones in P.E aiming for targets. We all tried to get the closest, Kerr and Caitlyn were very good at hitting the target.
In topic we learnt how to use alphanumeric maps. We used these skills to map the shopping center.
For science we measured if the longest arm throw the furthest. Our results showed that the length of arm didn’t actually matter with our throws.
Today in Golden Time we imagined that we were in a plane crash and had to survive by making a shelter and fire to get us through the night. After we were done making the shelter we look to see who would have survived and who wouldn’t have made it.
Caitlyn was our star the week, congratulations to Caitlyn!
What’s happened in P4 this week?
Zoe was so pleased that we got our exciting letter saying that we are going to Stirling Castle this week. Everyone is looking forward to our trip on June 16th.
We had Sophie from Le Francais en Ecosse coming in to work with us. We practised our colours and were able to say some of the phrases that we know. Josh enjoyed learning how to say boys and girls- un garçon and une fille.
Lewis really liked writing as if he was a woodland creature. He thought that it was good fun. Amy enjoyed going for our walk in the woods where we saw lots of different things. We are going to use what we saw to help us make a map of the area. That’s for next week!!
