Solidarity with Ukraine

Secondary pupils at Sandwick Junior High School have created this fantastic display in the school to show support and solidarity with the people of Ukraine.

The indpendance monument that they have recreated in their display was built in Kyiv (Ukraine) and was erected in 2001. The reason that the monument was built was to comemorate Ukraine becoming an independant nation.
The part of Ukraine that the monument is in is called Independance square near to the centre of Ukraine.

Health and Wellbeing Census

Shetland Islands Council is planning to ask all pupils in P5 to S6 to take part in a survey about their health and wellbeing. The findings will help Shetland Islands Council to understand the needs, strengths and possible concerns of children and young people, which will help plan
future improvements to local services. Parents will receive a letter providing more detailed information about the Census, and the opportunity to let us know if they do not wish for their child to take part.  For more information please visit: www.shetland.gov.uk/schools

Active School Football League

A huge well done to the Primary 6 and Primary 7 pupils who represented the school in the Active Schools Football League at Scalloway on Monday 7th March 2022.

They played three tough games against teams from Hamnavoe and Sound Primaries and although didn’t come away with a win they did themselves and their school proud with their spirit and determination. They were super ambassadors for the school.

We are looking forward to hosting the next fixture here in Sandwick after the holidays, when we welcome teams from Dunrossness, Hamnavoe and Scalloway.
