Jubilee party and MOVE day…

Here are some pictures of the jubilee party and comets making decorations for the party. We even seen the Queen and her house.

This week we have looked at different types of instruments and played them too. It was great fun. We had a wee visit from pet therapy which the comets loved. On Tuesday we did a lot of hard work and completed a lot of it independently and confidently. We have been looking at the summer theme for our art and looked at how ice cream was made and then made up our own ice cream flavours. On Thursday we did our local walk and because the whether was so nice we played at the park. We also seen the baby ducks and swans. We did a science experiment that involved milk, food colouring and dish soup and is was great to see the couloirs mixing and understanding why they did. We also looked at some life skills, which was tying laces and cleaning up – the comets are good at cleaning up.

On Friday it was MOVE day and we did… lots of movement activities and had a blast playing with other classes. Just have a look at all the photos of some of the many activities that comets did! A full day movement and fun.

MOVE Day

The infants had lots of fun this morning doing some MOVE activities in the playground. We started with a warm up to some music led by Mrs Hendry. We had to do some stretches along with some other movements. We then made a huge conga line and went round all the picnic benches – it was great fun. We then played a game of tails. We each had a tail tucked into our trousers or sleeve and we had to move around and try and steal the tails from our friends. Everyone really enjoyed this game and were interacting with all their peers in the infant corridor. Miss Stalker showed us some mainland yoga poses that we could copy – a favourite was the cow pose.  We then played an animal dice game  and had to copy the movement once we had thrown the dice. It was a super morning and everyone had fun.

Science fun!

**Confident Individuals** **Successful Learners**

This week in the Sungazers class, we have been exploring our senses in this fun science activity. We used smell, taste and touch to choose what we thought the item was from a choice of 5 pictures. Everyone done very well even with a tricky mint scent and the choice between a mint leaf or toothpaste. For the smell and taste we closed our eyes to try and enhance the sense we were using. We placed an object within a bag to hide it so we only used our hands to feel the object, describe what we felt and pick the picture that we thought was right. We played a sound game where we had to listen very carefully to the sound and decide what we thought the noise was. A super fun filled afternoon learning with our senses.

IDL evidence – caring for one another

The Asteroids have learned during their topic, that Pirates were quite nasty and unkind towards other people.

We agreed that it was much better to be kind to others. We looked at the Christian values of being kind to each other and the Golden Rule of treating others as we would want to be treated.

We made a bee out of toilet roll tubes to help us remember to ‘Be Kind’ and to treat others like we would like to be treated. We did really well sticking on the black stripes, eyes, antennae, wings and words.

We all looked at different actions and behaviour cards and could sort them into ‘friendly’ and ‘unfriendly’ piles. We demonstrated we knew how to treat others kindly and care for each other.

Well done, Asteroids!

Jubilee Celebrations

Effective Contributors   Successful Learners

The Snowdrops enjoyed celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee by decorating royal crowns and finger painting Union Jack flags.  Later, we  crushed and tasted some meringue and mixed it together with cream and strawberry sauce and cupcakes, too,  to make our own royal version of Eton Mess. Very tasty!

Platinum Jubilee in the Stars Class

*Successful Learners        *Effective Contributors

We participated in lots of activities to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. We wore a crown and robe, did a scavenger hunt, read a funny story called ‘The Queen’s Knickers’ and made crown biscuits at HE. Wearing golden crowns we had a lovely picnic in the garden and played parachute games with the Moonbeams. The Corgi cupcakes were really good too at our jubilee lunch on Tuesday.

Celebrating the Jubilee!

The Asteroids had a fabulous time celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee!

We made cupcakes and decorated them and made extra for our families at home. Yum, yum!

While we were waiting for our cakes to bake, we had great fun playing with red and blue balloons.

This afternoon we enjoyed cutting and sticking to make the Queen’s face from images associated with the Queen and the royal family. We also made a Union Jack flag using our fingers and paint.

Happy Jubilee weekend, everyone!
