Fairtrade Lemonade!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS *

The Daisies class enjoyed making fairtrade lemonade today. We explored the fairtrade logo through a range of songs, painted the fairtrade logo and then played a game of fairtrade bingo.

We explored the lemon including the skin and seeds. We practised our cutting skills by cutting the lemons in half, juiced the lemons and practised our stirring when adding sugar. Some of us were brave enough to taste the homemade lemonade!

Responsible Citizens – LGBT work

The Transition class were Responsible Citizens when they undertook some LGBT work. We looked at the LGBT flag and selected colours to replicate it on a bracelet. We then studied some artists that were persecuted for their role in the LGBT community. We decided to use the flag colours to make some of our own graffiti work.

Successful Learners – Literacy

The Transition class were Successful Learners when they used their literacy skills to express their opinions. We read the book, ‘I am Jazz’ and explored how we are all different but special. We compared our looks, interests and families. We created rainbow flags, had a colour hunt and danced to colour diversity, family and Pride songs. At science we did colour experiments. At HE we made tasty coloured traffic light sandwiches which we had for snack. On Purple Friday we created a purple octopus at art and enjoyed sensory handling. We had a very busy week of activities.

Purple day!

Effective Contributors

The Sunflower’s participated in our LGBT Awareness day by listening to our story called ‘Giraffe’s Can’t Dance’. The story helped us to understand that we are all different and unique. Afterwards, we made our own giraffes and decorated them with spots in a variety of ways.  Everyone had a brilliant day!
