Harvest Festival Fun

We have enjoyed our time learning about harvest time, different foods produced, helping others and being thankful for the food we eat.
We went on a food hunt round our classroom and used a checklist to make sure we had found all the items, we made a scarecrow and chose which materials to use for the scarecrow’s hair. We also collected food for the local food bank and took it to the collection point in the school. This afternoon we made our own classroom harvest wreath and made a harvest shaker to shake while we sang harvest songs at the end of the day.
Well done, Asteroids!

The Asteroids have been enjoying their topic, Oliver’s Vegetables.

We have been reading the book together, dressing up as the main characters and have shown good recall of the main events in the story. We have been sequencing the story using visuals and have been able to answer some comprehension questions based on the story. We have also been matching key words to pictures and characters. Awesome Asteroids Alert!

Nathional Maths Week

Successful Learners/ Confident Individuals

We’ve had a busy week, enjoying taking part in maths and number activities everyday to celebrate National Maths Week. During morning group, we took turns to complete some maths tasks on the board and during the day we included other maths related activities, including measuring ourselves with lollysticks, collecting stones and sticks and putting them in size order and we even made numbers from sticks. We played a shape game and had to try and make our bodies look like the shapes shown. As part of our IDL topic, we weighed different vegetables and predicted which would be heavier/lighter. We also worked hard working out the missing number in addition calculations.

Phew! Well done, Asteroids!

National Maths Week

To celebrate National Maths Week, we all completed numeracy tasks for at home and in school.  We worked on our sequencing work, with numbers and patterns.  We interacted with a partner to share our patterns and copy one another.  We were confident individuals when taking part in all work tasks that were set.

As part of our topic work ‘Breakfast around the World’, we combined this with maths week.  We were experiencing the country of France and learned some commonly used phrases as well counting 1-5 in french.
