As well as our ILP work we have had an outdoor maths trail, learnt about clothes needed for different seasons, measured and counted ingredients needed for Empire Biscuits and made a rain gauge. We did size ordering, explored a sock box, played snakes and ladders  where we used a dice and measured using large bricks. We had a great time learning.

National Maths Week

To celebrate National Maths Week, we all completed numeracy tasks for at home and in school.  We worked on our sequencing work, with numbers and patterns.  We interacted with a partner to share our patterns and copy one another.  We were confident individuals when taking part in all work tasks that were set.

As part of our topic work ‘Breakfast around the World’, we combined this with maths week.  We were experiencing the country of France and learned some commonly used phrases as well counting 1-5 in french.

The Moonbeams have been learning through a variety of math concepts this week.  They have been identifying shapes and making pictures. They have been counting objects related to their theme. The children enjoyed making musical instruments using foods. They were counting out and measuring the dried foods using measuring jugs and pouring them into bottles of different sizes.

We also did some role play. We love number songs and do them during our morning group – counting to 5. Today we  were effective contributors and were the monkeys on the bed jumping up and down with monkey masks. We took it in turns to fall off and pretend to bump our head. It was great fun.

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS *

The Daisies class enjoyed a range of maths activities today. We split into pairs and helped each other complete some counting cars tasks. We had to add the correct number of cars to the hula hoop. We attempted to sequence the numbers 1-20 by popping balloons on the SMARTboard.

Finally, we went on a potato hunt around the classroom and managed to find and sequence the numbers 1-20.

National Maths Fun – Monday Fun!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS *

The Daisies class loved today’s numeracy activities to celebrate National Maths Week. The tasks were all related to our theme “Oliver’s Vegetables” where we sorted vegetables on to a rainbow of colours. We also counted vegetables and put a peg on the correct total. We found halves and quarters of vegetables and put them together and finally, weighed a range of vegetables and enjoyed spotting which was the heaviest and which was the lightest.
