FAOL – Science – Dinosaur Fossil

*Successful Learners        *Effective Contributors

The Stars class made fabulous dinosaur fossils. We measured ingredients to make salt dough, divided the dough equally among us and imprinted with our favourite dinosaur shapes. After allowing the dough to dry we painted them. Don’t they look good?

Dinosaur Activities

Confident Individuals       Effective Contributors       *Successful Learners

Presently we are unable to access our photographs to blog but we have been very busy in the Stars class.

We planted sunflower seeds in pots for the school meadow. They are growing well and will soon need canes to support them. We also planted sweet pea plants in our garden planter. We’ve built another wigwam for them to climb up.

We continue to enjoy our dinosaurs theme making salt dough fossils and a sediment sand jar to show how fossils were made. We created a mod roc head for our giant dinosaur in class and made dinosaur footprints to compare sizes with our own.

Diggable Technology in the Pine Room.

This week we are highlighting Diggable Technology in School , this also ties in with Article 17 of the UNCRC which states all children and young people should be able to access information, particularly from the media.  Just now we are using technology every Wednesday to access school information via Teams for Assemblies, and we also get to see our friends in other classes on the big screen – Well done Mr Campbell, we think you should get a Diggable Technology Certificate next week!!!

In the Pine Room our favourite pieces of Technology are our AAC Devices, we use it to communicate in different ways, telling the Pine Ladies how we are feeling or making choices.

During Morning Group we are effective contributors and communicate our news to each other using our Big Macks.

Now at home how do you use your technology – do you listen to music on a phone, watch movies on an iPad, skype family members on your computer? Bring in some photos please from our information wall.

We have been successful learners in Science and taken our knowledge outdoors and planted our lettuce, spinach and some onions – in amongst our flowers!!!

In Social Studies we were working on SDG 17, sustainability and being part of a team.

Finishing out IDL Art ready for our wall display.

Practicing for Sports day.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

If you want to see her make sure you only look out the corner of your eye, if you try and look directly at her she’ll dive back into the Loch!

World Earth Day

Responsible Citizens

We planted nasturtium seeds in the garden, for Earth Day, and built a wigwam to support the climbing plants as they grow. We must remember to keep them well watered! We did recycling and energy saving activities plus made a global cupcake flower picture. We also found that reading a story using a torch is not easy so we had better not waste electricity. At science we did a water pollution experiment. What will grow best……..the seeds with water or the seeds with lemon (acid) water? We will see next week.
