iCycle Training

Mr McDowell and Mr Stewart organise iCycle training for our Primary 6 children each year.  This training is delivered after school from 3.30 until 4.30pm over 8 weeks commencing w/b 9th March.  This year, we have 47 children interested in taking part.  We are absolutely delighted with the level of interest but this means we will need to deliver the training in 2 groups.  Mr McDowell and Mr Stewart are happy to offer their time to lead the training on a Wednesday and a Thursday after school but we need your help to ensure it can go ahead.

Please indicate on the drop down below if you could offer your time to support our children in their iCycle training. We welcome help from parents / carers from any stage in the school.

Thank you

Congratulations, Laura Mitchell!

Very well done to Laura Mitchell in Primary 7! The whole class entered a national photography competition called My Place Photography. After some photography tips from Grange Art & Design Department, Primary 7 took to Kilmarnock Town Trail to take their snaps. Laura went one further and went out to take some of her own too. She managed to come third from all the hundreds of entries from all across Scotland with her photograph Caprington In The Mist. I’m sure you’ll agree it is a stunning picture of a magnificent building we have right on our doorstep! Once again, congratulations, Laura!

Feel free to log on to the My Place Photography 2018 website to see all our entries.http://www.scottishcivictrust.org.uk/about/my-place-photography/competition/competition-galleries/primary-2018/

Primary 7 Transition / Photography

Primary 7 walked up to Grange Art & Design Department to meet Miss Sharpe for her to share some top tips on capturing that perfect photograph. She talked about perspective, focal points and the rule of thirds.

Then they took those tips out into the town centre taking lots of great photos. Everyone will soon choose their favourite photo to enter the national My Place Photography run by The Scottish Civic Trust.

Pink Group Autumn Walk

Yesterday the Pink group went out an Autumn walk to the local coffee shop, Central Park. We had such good fun and a yummy snack!

Big thanks to all the staff at Central Park and the parent helpers! 🙂

Primary 7 – Kilmarnock During WW2 Bus Tour

Primary 7 finished their first section of WW2 with a bus tour of Kilmarnock! They drove along Dundonald Road where the railings were cut down for melting into ammunition. They continued up John Finnie Street imagining the cars collecting evacuees from the railway station. After passing The Grand Hall (used for Italian prisoners of war) they made their way to Culzean Crescent where 4 people were killed in an air raid – the only one to ever hit Kilmarnock. They looked at the memorial bench for these four civilians  killed that night in May 1941. Finally, after a visit to The Dick Institute to look at old Kilmarnock photographs, they crossed the road to the war memorial.

Stephanie Kerr’s dad had told her where to look for her relative’s name.

An interesting and thought-provoking afternoon out.
