Scottish Orienteering Championships, Glasgow

Well done to all the P5, 6 and 7 children who represented Gargieston at the Scottish Orienteering Championships in Glasgow yesterday. A great time was had by all and they even managed to avoid all the thunderstorms in the area!

Particular congratulations must go to Sam McCallum of P6 who won the P5/6 boys event – an amazing achievement, Sam! Well done!

Thank you to Mr Smith and Mrs Mackie for their preparation leading up to the event and to Mrs Work for these terrific photographs on the day.

Thank you GFG!

We would like to say a huge thanks to our Gargieston Fundraising Group for purchasing and organising gym bags for the storage of our new football kits and for the fantastic t-shirt. We love them!

Playground Toy Amnesty

Throughout the rest of this session, we would like to add to the playground toys we have in our playground shed so that pupils have a greater variety of activities to take part in at breaktimes and lunchtimes. Before we start to purchase new equipment, we would ask any pupils and families, who have equipment/toys they have finished with or grown out of and which are still in good condition, to donate them to the school so that others can also have fun and enjoyment with them. Any donations would be very welcome from Monday, 15th January. Here we can see Max, Harris, Jamie and Noah from P1 having a first shot on our new table tennis table which was donated to the school by Mr and Mrs Hettrick and the new equipment bag containing a net, bats and balls donated by the GFG and ordered for us by Mrs. Montgomery. We cannot thank you all enough. The boys had great fun!!! Other stages within the school can look forward to getting a turn very soon!!

P5a Enjoy the Frosty Weather!

This afternoon P5 enjoyed being outside completing the daily 15 around the playground. The children have really been challenging themselves with fitness. Keep working towards your targets p5!

GIRLS FOOTBALL

Here are the P5 and P6 girls who attend football training on a Monday with Bethany, our Ayrshire College student and girls football coach. They also represented us superbly at last week’s Grange Cluster Cup first event. They didn’t win the event but they had lots of fun and very proudly came back to school with the Fair Play Cup. This was awarded in recognition of their positive, enthusiastic attitude and sportsmanlike behaviour throughout the event. Well done, girls!!  We are so proud of you.

Unfortunately, we have no team strips for the girls who played last week in our school orienteering tops. We would be extremely grateful if there was a company or business with a family link to Gargieston which would be able to sponsor us and so help us to have new strips for all our future football events.   Our very successful boys team need new strips too. We would be so grateful for any help.

Please note…

Due to unforeseen circumstances there will be no dance sessions on a Tue within the ECC. Staff will be facilitating different activity sessions for your child within the gym hall instead.
