P7 Grange Concert

Just a reminder that P7 children are expected at Grange for a whole Education Group musical extravaganza on Wednesday night (6pm for a 7pm start). Mr Ramsay, Head of Performing Arts, has been visiting Gargieston to teach the children the three songs.

Unfortunately we only have 7 children out of the 32 in the class who have returned the letter to say they are going. I appreciate some people may have other Christmas commitments that night but it would be great to see more attending. What a great way to meet up with their future classmates.

Many thanks, Mrs Lawson

P7 at Grange Concert

Just a reminder to all P7 children…

Last Monday Mr Ramsay, Principal Teacher of Performing Arts at Grange Academy, gave out letters to the P7 children about their participation in the Grange Education Group Christmas Concert. It is on the evening of Wednesday 20th December at Grange. All children have received a letter.

This is a great opportunity to sing in a large choir with their future classmates from Annanhill, Crosshouse, Hillhead and Shortlees in a Transition event.

Could the children please return their letters as soon as possible to give Grange our numbers attending? Many thanks.

P7 at Kilmarnock District History Group

A huge well done and thank you to the 17 Primary 7 children who gave a further performance of their WWII play in Ayrshire College at the Kilmarnock District History Group last night!

They quickly learned lines of classmates who could not manage along and arrived ready to deliver the extras.

Mrs Lawson, Mrs Mackie and the children all received such a warm welcome and it was lovely to then listen to the stories from the audience, sharing their memories with the P7s.

An enjoyable and rewarding visit!

P4B – Day of Dance

P4B did an amazing job dancing their little feet off in the Grand Hall at the ‘Day of Dance’ hosted by the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. We would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Neilson from RSCDS and also a Gran at our school,  who came in to school every week to help us learn the dances.

STEM – P5a Origami Homework Challenge

Origami is the art of paper folding, which is often associated with Japanese culture. This week P5a were set a homework task to create some origami art of their choosing.

Together in class we looked at making a swan and searched online for great instructive videos and guides.

I am blown away with the amount of effort put in by the children! Check out our Origami art below!

World War II Play

Congratulations to all the Primary 7s who put on a fabulous performance this week based around Grammar School; Kilmarnock and events around the world during the WW2 time. They delivered their lines so well – everyone taking on at least a small part. Well done! Thanks also to some of the P5s and P6s of Base 4 for coming along to support us with the songs.

Over £170 from ticket sales will go to Poppy Scotland. Thank you!

GIRLS FOOTBALL

Here are the P5 and P6 girls who attend football training on a Monday with Bethany, our Ayrshire College student and girls football coach. They also represented us superbly at last week’s Grange Cluster Cup first event. They didn’t win the event but they had lots of fun and very proudly came back to school with the Fair Play Cup. This was awarded in recognition of their positive, enthusiastic attitude and sportsmanlike behaviour throughout the event. Well done, girls!!  We are so proud of you.

Unfortunately, we have no team strips for the girls who played last week in our school orienteering tops. We would be extremely grateful if there was a company or business with a family link to Gargieston which would be able to sponsor us and so help us to have new strips for all our future football events.   Our very successful boys team need new strips too. We would be so grateful for any help.

P5 Autumn Art Fun!

Today we were using the dotty technique to create an Autumn Hand Print Tree. Using oil pastels, crayon, pencil, paint and cotton buds we were happy with the outcome! Have a look at the process below…

P4/5 Great Pyramid Open Afternoon

A huge well done to P4/5 who planned and carried out a fabulous open afternoon for their parents, family and friends.
