P7 Grange Concert

Just a reminder that P7 children are expected at Grange for a whole Education Group musical extravaganza on Wednesday night (6pm for a 7pm start). Mr Ramsay, Head of Performing Arts, has been visiting Gargieston to teach the children the three songs.

Unfortunately we only have 7 children out of the 32 in the class who have returned the letter to say they are going. I appreciate some people may have other Christmas commitments that night but it would be great to see more attending. What a great way to meet up with their future classmates.

Many thanks, Mrs Lawson

Christmas Jumper Day

Christmas Jumper Day

** Friday 15th December **

All children are invited to wear a Christmas jumper, festive top or accessory  to school  – please do not feel you have to go to any expense  – why not decorate a top with festive decorations from home ?

Literacy Group

At participation group time, the Literacy Group has been carrying out an audit of all our reading books. If anyone thinks they have a book at home which should be returned to school, we would be very grateful.

Cosmic Yoga

“The purpose of yoga is to create strength, awareness and harmony in both the mind and body”

P5a took part in yoga today after our writing and math lessons.

“It makes me feel relaxed and helps get my thoughts out” – Jack S

“It is stress free” – Sarah

“It is fun and improves my fitness” – Jamie

“It is nice to stretch after being behind the desk for a while”- Lucy M

Primary 1 and 2 party

Just a reminder that the party for Primary 1 and 2 is next Thursday afternoon (21st December). During the party each class will have a surprise visit to Santa in his lovely grotto (which has been created by our classroom assistants in the Rainbow Room, using the fabulous fireplace built by the ladies in the ECC). This will allow the children more time to play games and have fun at the party. Unfortunately we are unable to invite parents to join us due to time constraints and the grotto being quite small.

Primary 7 today – pantomimes and pen pals!

Last month Primary 7 pupils wrote their first pen pal letters to an English speaking school in Spain. This was made possible by a former pupil of Gargieston who is now a teacher in the school, contacting us and coming in to visit when home in Kilmarnock.

Well, the first letters back arrived in the post today and there was much excitement in our class!

We learned about all sorts from their favourite films and foods to Spanish customs and cuisine. Our children were not impressed at the thought of octopus and potatoes!

Now, we have made Christmas cards to send back and will pop in another letter before the Christmas holidays.

Not forgetting we had a terrific morning at the pantomime – oh yes we did!!

Pantomime and pen pals 🙂
