Home Learning Routine Idea

Good morning everyone!

I’ve created a Home Learning Routine Idea that some of you may find useful.

Please know this is only an idea and you do not have to follow this. But, I know some of us are finding it tricky to find a routine just now and finding time for our learning and fun. Please have a look at this if you think it could help. Feel free to change any of the times to suit you and your family or swap some activities around. I hope this helps.

Stay home and stay safe everyone. Most importantly, stay smiling!

Learning Resources

Resilience Alphabet

I wanted to share this super learning resource called the Resilience Alphabet. The Resilience Alphabet includes ideas and activities to help you build inner strength and wellbeing.  For each letter there is a definition, something to think about, something positive to say and some suggestions of things to Make, Do or Write.

Being resilient is all about how well you deal with and cope with difficult situations, which we are all facing more than ever during this tricky time. If you are resilient, you have the skills to bounce-back or recover from challenges. We have talked a lot about ‘bouncing back’ in school and I hope this is something you can use to help ‘bounce back’ at home.

The Resilience Alphabet can be used in lots of different way to develop these skills.

It’s up to you how and when you choose to use the Resilience Alphabet. Perhaps you could randomly select letters of the alphabet – maybe using the letters within your name, or perhaps start at the very beginning, a, b, c and so on, trying to complete one letter a day?

I think these are great ideas to stay positive and I will be trying some of these out at home! Please share if you do try any of the activities and I hope these help you.

This morning I tried letter ‘A’. I thought about how I’ve had to adapt to not seeing all of your lovely faces in our normal classroom, and instead I try to plan fun lessons and activities for us to try in our new online classroom. I practised saying “Every day I’m learning how to adapt by doing things differently” and then I tried 2 of the “Do” activities. I tried to brush my teeth with my other hand which was very tricky! (and messy!) Then I tried to draw a picture of a cat with my eyes closed 🐱I don’t think it’s too bad… I think I will try another letter later as it made me smile. Which letters of the Resilience Alphabet will you try today? Share it with us if you can!

Keep your eyes open for any more learning resources to be shared throughout the week.

Love from Miss McInally

P5 Home Learning- Week beginning 18.05.2020

Hi Primary 5!

Are you ready for another week of home learning? I’m missing you all very much. I hope you are enjoying these learning activities and keeping your brains working.

I’ve created a new Learning Grid for this week, which includes more Numeracy, Literacy, Health and Wellbeing and other activities. You could choose an activity from each area to try each day or whatever works best for you and your family. If a document is underlined in the grid, this means it is a separate document (these are all listed at the bottom of this post). There are also some links to websites in the grid.

Please click on the links at the bottom of this post to see this week’s Learning Grid and activities.

Remember to still try to log into Teams if you can (contact the school office if you are not sure of your login). There is also a blog post on Teams Instructions to help you. I would love to hear from you and know how you are getting on.

Also, a little reminder to try the new numeracy resource- MyMaths. It has great activities suited to you and some fun new games! Everyone has an individual username and password. If you would like to access this resource, please contact Mrs Davidson by emailing st-pius@dundeecity.gov.uk with your child’s name and class included in the email. She will get the information sent out to you as soon as possible.

You can also check out the school’s Twitter for learning ideas or visit our previous blog posts for extra learning resources. Keep your eyes open for any new extra learning resources that may be posted throughout the week.

Again, please do not worry if you do not complete all of this week’s activities, just try your best and keep smiling!

Remember to take some time out to have fun and relax with your families. Have you started any new hobbies? Created a new game to play or reading an interesting book?

Stay home and stay safe!

P5 Home Learning- Week beginning 04.05.2020

Hello Primary 5!

I know some of you are finding it tricky to access our Teams page, so I will now be posting our learning here also.

I have created a Learning Grid for the week, which includes Numeracy, Literacy, Health and Wellbeing and other activities. You could choose one activity from each area to try each day or whatever works best for you and your family. If a document is underlined in the grid, this means it is a separate document (these are all listed below). There are some links to websites in the grid also. Please click on the links at the bottom of this post to see this week’s Learning Grid and activities.

Top tip for PowerPoint learning activities- When you open a PowerPoint for your learning, remember to view the PowerPoint in Slide Show mode for the best results. This will mean you view the PowerPoint full screen. Otherwise, you might see the answers before you have completed the activity! When you view the PowerPoint, there is a Slide Show icon at the bottom of the screen. See the picture for help.

Remember to still try to log into Teams if you can (contact the school office if you are not sure of your login). Also check out the school’s Twitter for other learning ideas.

Do not worry if you do not complete all of the activities, just try your best. Remember to have fun, keep smiling and keep your brains working!

I miss you all lots and lots. Stay home and stay safe!
