Primary 5 have had a very busy and fun week!
We had our fantastic Christmas show- Lights, Camel, Action 2! The Sequin on Wednesday! We performed our class dance to the Nazareth Hustle and had so much fun singing along to all the songs!
On Friday, we had Fab Fit Friday and we were very fit indeed! We started the day off with judo before learning about the Eat Well Guide from Dundee United. After a well needed break, we did some fab exercise then ended the morning with some Tae Kwan Do! It was very fun and we were all super tired in the afternoon!
In Numeracy we were working hard to show how we can use concrete materials for subtraction.
We are very excited for next week and the Christmas countdown is on in Primary 5!
Last week was another busy week in Primary 5!
In Numeracy, we have continued to work hard on our column addition and we now feel more confident in using this as an addition strategy.
In Literacy, we continued reading Charlotte’s Web and planned a persuasive letter to Mr Zuckerman to save Wilbur’s life.
We also started creating a 3D model of the solar system! We worked together to check all of the planets were in order and of the correct colour. This week we are going to finish our models and check each planet is the correct distance from the sun.
We have started practising our song and dance for the Christmas show- we can’t wait to show off our moves!
Primary 5 have had a super busy week!
We have been doing lots of learning about autumn. On Monday, we went for a fun autumn walk in the sunshine! We explored the playground and used our senses to describe the different features of autumn.
On our autumn walk, we collected some leaves and created some colourful art! In Literacy, we wrote a descriptive autumn story.
We also had a visit from some six-legged insect friends when we went to a science workshop! A snake, giant snail and tarantula came along too! We were all very brave and even got to touch some of the animals.
In Numeracy, we have been practising our addition strategies and working hard on our column addition.
In PE we have been continuing with gymnatics, practising how to roll safely in different ways.
Primary 5 have had a fantastic start to the new term! We started the week off with some outdoor learning games to work on our communication and team work skills.
In Numeracy, we have started learning about column addition and were practising our skip counting in outdoor learning.
In PE, we are doing gymnastics this term and we have been exploring the equipment this week. We were practising how to jump, roll and move along the equipment safely.
We have also been learning more about space! This week we have learned about astronauts and how they live in space, including where they sleep and what they eat.
Primary 5 have had another super week packed with lots of learning!
On Monday, we were doing some super moving and dancing with Glen. We were moving around the room like we were astronauts on the moon! We also created our own alien, thinking about how it would move and any noises it would make. This all links well with our space theme this term!
In Literacy, we have been reading more of Charlotte’s Web. Wilbur the pig has finally met Charlotte now. We hope they become good friends. We have also been practising to write sentences using the correct punctuation.
In Numeracy, we have been looking some more at numbers up to 10, 000. We can now confidently explain the link between a digit, its place and its value in any 4 digit number.
In French, we have been continuing to practice more of our greetings. We also learned how to introduce ourselves and ask somebody what their name is. Miss McInally was really impressed with our fantastic French accents and enthusiasm!
We have also been learning lots more about space! We can now name all the planets (in order!) and describe their size, colour and other features. We also started learning about the Apollo 11 moon landing and found out some very interesting facts! For example, did you know it took 4 days for Saturn V rocket to get to the moon?
Until next week!
Primary 5 have had an excellent start to the year!
This week we have been continuing to make our new routines and getting to know each other. We have also been busy learning lots of new things! We have an exciting new Math programme that we have just started. We get our own workbooks, which are cool and fun. In Math this week, we have been learning to count to 1000 in groups of ones, tens, twenty-fives and hundreds. We also started counting in thousands up to 10,000!
In Literacy, we have started reading our class novel- Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White. It is a story of friendship between a pig and a spider, who live on a farm.
In French, we have been learning different greetings and different answers to the question “How are you?” We are really good at practising our French and Miss McInally says we have a super accent.
We have also started learning about space this week, which is really interesting! We created a piece of art using black card and oil pastels, inspired by the view of Earth from the window of the International Space Station.
Next week we will be doing lots more interesting work and continuing to work on being our best self, inside and outside of our classroom.
