Museum of Scottish Scientists

P45 have been researching famous Scottish scientists from the past and creating power points about them. We have lots of famous scientists and engineers who have helped to change the world we live in for the better. We have even made a virtual museum you can visit to find out more about them. Visit the My Museum Glow page to find out more.

All about P1/2 this week

This week we have continued to work hard on our circus topic. Struan, Bronagh, Mirren, Katie and Jasmine are fantastic at hula hooping. Ronan has managed to learn to juggle with two bean bags!
Murray is getting really good at walking the tight rope!

We have been doing loads of rhyming work. We even made our own MTV style nursery rhyme videos! They are fantastic! We planned our costumes and props for the video.
We discovered how to make vokis this week and we all made our own voki to tell our favourite nursery rhyme – check them out on our glow page!
Happy hloidays and happy valentines day! xx

WW2

Today we have been learning about the early part of the war and the dates of events in World War 2. Bailey knows that the war started in 1939.Megan knows that Winston Churchill became prime minister on the 10.5.1940. We have also been using an interactive timeline to create our own World War 2 timeline.

Little Miss Muffet by P1/2

P1/2 wrote their own version of the rhyme Little Miss Muffet. It is so good we thought we would share it with everyone!
Enjoy!

Little Miss Muffet sat on a hill,
Little Miss Muffet caught a chill.
Little Miss Muffet sat on a cat,
Then she realised it was a big fat rat!
Little Miss Muffet sat on a mat,
Then she saw a very fat rat!
Little Miss Muffet sat on a log,
Little Miss Muffet stroked a dog.
Little Miss Muffet sat on a rock,
Little Miss Muffet dropped a sock!
Little Miss Muffet sat on a chair,
Little Miss Muffet brushed her hair.
Little Miss Muffet let off a flare!

speedy sums in P1/2

Today p1/2 had a speed sum quiz. We were all trying to find the answers to adding and take away sums really quickly without using our fingers. We are going to practise speedy sums every day so that we get really quick!

Burns Celebrations

It was a celebration of Robert Burns on 25th January at Port Ellen Primary School. Children had spent weeks learning their poems to recite to the eminent judges on the day, and we couldn’t wait to see who won. We stopped early for lunch, which included the traditional Haggis, neeps and tatties. Mrs Carmichael said the traditional Burns lines over the haggis before it was served.
After lunch we held a ceilidh with parents attending for a dance and a song. Aileas entertained us on the fiddle, and the Highland Dancers were amazingly springy as they danced. The children have all been learning dancing, and it was great to see them dancing with their parents and friends to the Gay Gordans and Canadian Barn dance. The winners of the poetry competition were announced and were Murray in P1,Bronagh in P2, Abbie in P3, Maisie in P4, Ellen in P5, Aileas in P6 and Eilidh in p7. All in all a fantastic celebration of Scottish Culture.

1 + 14 = 15 Katie

2 + 13 =15 Bronagh

3 + 12 = 15 Ronan

4 + 11 = 15 Jasmine

5 + 10 = 15 Mirren

6 + 9 = 15 Ross

7 + 8 = 15 Julie Ann
