Every day on Monday after school Mr Shakespeare runs a sports club. Loads of people in the school go to sports club and enjoy it. We have been doing lots of different activities such as football, shinty, hockey handball, dodgeball and eliminate frisby. It is great fun.
Coffee Tables
P4/5 were challenged to design and build a coffee table out of newspaper and sellotape today. The design criteria were that it had to hold up Mrs Harrison’s cup and be a the right height for someone sitting on a chair. There were lots of innovative designs and some excellent teamwork. Here are the winning designs. Sadly the mug got broken when one table collapsed!
Port Ellen Primary Christmas Jumper Day !
On Friday the 16th December, Port Ellen Primary School did a Christmas jumper day for Save the children. We raised £75.65 which was fantastic. We want to say a big thank you to everyone who wore a Christmas jumper and everyone who donated.
Symmetry
P5\6\7 have been doing Symmetry for math. We have look at shape symmetry and name symmetry. If you put a mirror in the middle of a shape you can check if its symmetrical or not. We all did name symmetry, it was really fun to make and they look really nice.
Dance Club !
Dance club is run by Eva, Natalie and Lauren on Fridays at Lunch break. It’s for any P1\2\3\4 that want to come. They have been learning dances and seem to be enjoying it. They hope to be restarting the club after the Christmas Holidays.
The Nativity
P1\2\3 from Port Ellen Primary School will be doing a Nativity on the Wednesday 21st of December at half one at St John’s Church. They have been working so hard practicing and learning the songs and the words. We want to say a big thank you to Miss Brown for working so hard on the Nativity, and to Mrs Campbell for playing the piano.
Port Ellen Christmas Fair
Port Ellen Christmas Fair was a great way to get ready for Christmas. P1\2\3 had the soap and bath bomb stall, P4\5 potpourri, chocolates, cookies, Christmas tree decorations, candle holder and more. P5\6\7 made Christmas magnets, Olaf’s, candles, lights, bobbles, tagul pictures, nativity finger puppets, little creatures and mirrors. Santa visited and we were very busy. The fair in total was a great success, the school made over £2,000. Thanks to everyone who came along to support the school.
Christmas Cupcake Challenge
All of P567 have been working hard at the Christmas cupcake challenge making bubblegum, chocolate orange, lemon sherbet and honeycomb flavour cupcakes for their enterprise task. They all look great!
PPPS CHRISTMAS FAIR
The PPPS which are Matthew, Aaron, Abi, Rowan, Sophie and Kaitlyn are making crafts for Port Ellen’s Christmas fair. We made lots of items and it only took two days to make everything. We made tin cans, star mirrors, taguls and finger puppet nativities. The star mirrors are £1:50 there are 7 of them. The nativity is £2:00 and there is 5 sets of them. The taguls are £1:00 and there are 8 of them. The star mirrors are £1:50 and there are 7 of them. The tin cans are 50p and there 6 of them. We had to create balance sheets and work out unit costs to be able to price our items, to make sure we make a profit.

Rionnag
Rionnag is an enterprise group that will be selling their crafts at the Port Ellen primary school Christmas fair on Saturday 10th December. We will be selling sock Olafs,Christmas magnets and lemon and sherbet cupcakes. The Olafs are £3.00 and the magnets are 30p or 4 for £1. We only have 6 Olafs and they are going sell out fast because every one loves Olaf. We have 38 magnets. We want to get a profit not a loss. We hope we get lots of money.
