Claire Wakefield from CAMHs LD has sent few activity ideas for parents to use at home. Here are a few ideas of toys which some young people might enjoy for some cause and effect reward. Just click on the link below:
Today’s suggestion for Health and Well-being came from Maureen, thank you Maureen.
She has suggested that we have a Pinewood cake making competition!
The competition would be open to Pinewood students and staff and the rules are that the cakes have to be home made or home decorated and you have to send in a picture so that we can all see them. We will ask someone who knows a lot about cakes to be the judge!
The competition will run until Friday 24th April so there is plenty of time to practise your baking skills and to take a photograph of your best bake.
In the meantime why not watch an episode of junior bake-off for some cake-spiration!
We’re all getting used to working in new ways away from our usual classrooms, but we can still have fun making music.
What to do today
Please join in with the activities below. The more who can join in, the more fun, too. Do the activities as many times as you like.
Activities (links below)
Hello song
Bounce and catch. You’ll need a ball for this.
Tap and clap along to Cho-co-la-te
Watch this video that Connie shared and clap and tap along to the sounds.
Play the video again, but this time play along with some instruments – if you don’t have any, see what you can find around you that can make a good sound. We will look at some simple home made instruments later in the week.
Time to get up and dance! Electroswing -Lost in the Rhythm, Jamie Berry Feat. Octavia Rose. Can you move your feet, arms and hands to the music like the dancer? You can play your instruments too if you like, or get scarf to play with.
And now, time to chill. Here’s another piece of music by the French composer Erik Satie. It was originally for piano, but suits the guitar as well. You may want to play it more than once.
Goodbye Song. Time to say goodbye! Thank you for your music. Hope you had some fun, see you all next time!

Good day! Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Lots of outdoor activities today seeing as we have such nice weather 🙂
Maths
Today for maths have a look at these counting songs. Can you count to 100? Can you count up in 2’s?
If you want to do more maths after the videos see how high you can count up to and let me know. Can you count backwards from that number? complete a sheet from your maths book (lion on the front).
P.E
Have a look and see what Gerry and Pedro have posted today under the P.E tag
Snack
Can you make your own healthy snack and send me a picture either in the comments here or over email? You could make a fruit salad, a sandwich or maybe you have an even better idea. Nicole needs some inspiration.

Sign of the Day
Remember to watch Lorna to see what signs we will be learning today on the ‘sign of the week tab’
Story and Outdoor Learning
Today’s story will be ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’. Read this before outdoor learning
For Outdoor learning today why don’t you go a walk with a family member around your area and see how many bears and rainbows you can see in the windows of the houses. I know there is one up in my house and a lot of people and parents from pinewood and all over West Lothian have been putting these up. Take some photos or count how many you find and let me know (lots of good skills to be developed here – numeracy, listening, looking, keeping safe)
Art
Make a bear picture and some flowers to put up in your windows for lots of boys and girls to spot on their walks.
Or just make a picture of your favorite part of the bear hunt
HWB
Have a feelings check in with your family
To make sure everyone if happy why don’t you have a movie marathon with your family or a little dance party?
STEM Challenge
If you only ever do one thing from the blog a day I would recommend it be these challenges as they develop sooooo many important skills. (and BONUS – lots of fun)
This weeks challenge is
Send me your video or recipe book by the end of the week if you can 🙂
or if you are doing the lego challenge here is the next challenge
Here is another link to a video on YouTube for relaxation. To really benefit from getting the full light experience make the room as dark as possible and find a comfy place to relax…
