Last week we were describing autumn leaves in our writing work. To help us with this we went out for a walk and had a look at some different types of leaves. We worked together to think of lots of describing words to describe the leaves and came up with lots of good words like: long, short, tiny, smooth, soft, jaggy, pointy, red, brown, big, small, wet, curvy and many more! We all worked really hard to try to sound out our words and tried to include our capital letter, full stop and finger spaces. Here are a few photos of us looking at the leaves outside along with some examples of our writing. Mrs Lloyd was really proud of our hard work.

Learning in P3 This Week
We have been very busy with our enterprise project. We have written very persuasive letters to Mrs Stewart asking if we can borrow money. We have talked about profit! And most importantly we have been busy making some wonderful gifts to sell at the Nativity! In maths we have been learning about money and we are getting really good at counting it!. We were learning about the vowel house, which the children will be bringing home to practise next week.
Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!
P4/5 Message from Mr. Herman
This week has been incredibly busy and we have been working very hard. I would like to thank all the parents who have handed in glass jars for our enterprise crafts. We have a whole cupboard full of jars that we will use to make some beautiful tealight holders. I would also like to thank my cleaning up helpers, Liam, Roxanne, Niamh, Kerr and Chloe M. for their excellent help in tidy up the class room after we made salt dough ornaments. This week also showed some very keen and enthusiastic writers who even used some of their wet break to finish up writing! Great job! I look forward to another VERY busy and productive week next week getting ready for our Enterprise bingo night (On the 10th of December 6:30-8:00)!
Another busy week !
P1a have been very busy this week. We have spent alots of time practising for our nativity! We have also been working hard on our sounds and spelling three letter words. Some of us are even starting to blend the sounds together to read words! Our sounds this week were oa, w and ng. In, maths we have been doing lots of subtraction and learning about size ! We enjoyed sorting items into tall and short !
‘My bead string is long’ Chloe
‘I sorted the ribbons into long and short’ Cye
This week, we also learnt how to count up to 10 in Manderin !!!
French Language Nuts!!
Pupils from P4-7 have started using a new website called www.languagenut.com. Everyone has their own password and can access the site from home as well as school to practise their French. There are lots of games to play as well as a test zone where you can show off your knowledge and build your own medal table- great fun and a super challenge. Get nutty and practise that French! Have fun!
French in the Nursery- Camembear et les couleurs
Girls and boys in the nursery have been having fun and learning French with a new friend- Camembear. Camembear is a very friendly bear who is sometimes mischievous! He can only speak in French so the girls and boys are learning how to speak to him in his own language. They can say “bonjour” and “au revoir” . Camembear had fun with this as every time they said “au revoir”, he went flying off the flag into the air!
We have been learning how to say the different colours. Everyone is very good at recognising bleu (blue), blanc (white) and rouge(red) and can pick out these colours when asked. These colours are everywhere!
This week we have been working at learning the colour rose (pink). It was great fun dancing and playing our corners game to work at practising our colours.
We have also been learning how to say how we are feeling. You can see more on our French display in the Nursery.
A Busy Week in P3
We have been very busy in P3 this week!
We have started our enterprise topic and have transformed into little elves to make lots of goodies to sell at this years Nativity. We have been working out profits and costing goods in our cooperative teams! We have also been learning about money in maths and are getting good at recognizing and adding up coins. We will be continuing this for the next few weeks, which gives parents and carers a great opportunity to develop this at home by playing games with coins of looking at costs of goods in the supermarket etc.
In science we have been busy learning about magnetism. The children amazed me with how quickly they developed their understanding of the scientific vocabulary we looked at. We talked about the push and pull forces, North and South poles, attraction and repulsion and metals that attract magnets and those that don’t. The children had great fun exploring the magnets and using them to push other magnets across the table and making them spin around. Watch out to see how this projects develops!
Our class Dojo is a great success, if you have not already logged on, have a look and talk to your children about all the wonderful things that they have been doing to earn their points!
Please remember winter coats for next week as it is getting cold outside!
P6 have been busy again!
There was an explorer who came in with a dog called Haggis and they are walking up to the top of Scotland into the mountains to train to go to Antarctica to raise money for animal rescue charities. Jaime
We also had the Scottish SPCA come in to teach us about how farms treat their animals and about animal cruelty. At the end we played a game which was great fun! Euan
We had a two minute silence on Wednesday to remember everyone who fought for our country. Katie
We learnt about growth and fixed mindsets. A growth mindset is when you try to improve and don’t give up. A fixed mindset is when you give up easily or think you are the best that you can be. We watched a funny video on Ormie the Pig who had a growth mindset. Watch this on You Tube at home! Nikita
