World Book Day

P1b were looking good yesterday when lots of the children dressed up for world book day.  We have celebrated by reading some good stories in the library this week including ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and we have been writing wanted posters for Golidlocks and making pictures of her for our ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears Wall’ which we are very proud of.

Mrs Lloyd’s writing group have also been writing letters to the Three Bears from Golidlocks.  The quality of work produced was very high and the detail included was outstanding.  Well done boys and girls!

Titanic Science Skills in P.6

Miss Lovett, P.6 Student teacher, delivered an exciting Science lesson today on mass and density in P.6. The class worked well in collaborative groups to predict, check and evaluate their ‘Egg speriment’ and report on their findings.

They then helped Mrs Stewart to evaluate the lesson saying:

‘Miss Lovett is very well organised’

‘She uses humour in her lessons’

‘She values your answers and gives good feedback’

‘She gave clear instructions for the experiment’

Positive feedback from pupils Miss Lovett – well done!

World Book Day in P.4/5

I thoroughly enjoyed working with P.4/5 on our Gangsta Granny Extravaganza. Everyone enjoyed hearing the two short extracts from the book and watching the video clip where David Walliams shared his tips to become a good writer. There was a menu of activities to choose from including:

A profile of Gangsta Granny / Ben’s Heist Plan / SWAG bags full of jewels / Book cover designs

P.4/5 were completely engaged with these activities and impressed me with their skills.

Thank you also to the teachers who dressed up for World Book Day and to Hannah who delivered my fruit – dressed as Elsa.

Happy Mothers Day !!!

P1a have been busy practising for the Mothers Day assembly! We have also been making cards and pictures for our mums.

We have also been practising our number facts for 9 and we have been working hard on our mental maths addition strategies.     P1a have also been writing wanted posters for Goldilocks!!  She is very naughty and the police need to catch her. Can you spot our wanted posters outside our classroom?

Thursday was world book day. We celebrated this by dressing up as our favourite book characters.

‘I am Harry Potter’ – Ryan

‘I dressed up as Alisa from Frozen’ – Pooja

‘I am a Minion’ – Kian

We also read the story of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’, and we made super pictures of Goldilocks !!

Can you spot them next to our wanted posters?

P1a wanted to say Happy Mothers Day to all the mums and grandmas.  We think you are all AWESOME !!!!!

Team Bankton @ the WL Burns federation Final

Well done to Kai Morrow, Sophie Dalziel, Chloe Bell and Emma Russell who each performed a Burns poem at the West Lothian Final of the Burns federation Competition. Each of them received a Burns Federation certificate for their efforts!

They represented Bankton very well and made their headteacher and their families very proud. Thank you to the families who attended to cheer them on – your support was much appreciated.
