Easter Greetings to all our Families

Happy Easter to all of our Bankton children, parents and staff. I hope the sun shines for all of you and you enjoy your family time.

The end of term was an exciting and happy time for all of us, with two amazing performances of the school show, ‘Edith’s Wartime Scrapbook’, declared to be ‘the best yet’ by our parents and special guests. Well done to all involved. The full version of the show was professionally filmed and uploaded to YouTube by Eddie Anderson. Check it out for some holiday entertainment making sure you include FULL VERSION in the search. A DVD will be produced in due course.

I also enjoyed the final day where I had lots of Easter visitors – bonnets galore from the Nursery. We also celebrated Mr. Walker’s ‘big’ birthday with a powerpoint tribute from the children and managed to make him cry!

P1b were delighted to receive a letter from the dragon today thanking them for the wallpaper that they worked alongside P1a to design.  The children worked together in mixed teams to share ideas and resources and to design some fairytale wallpaper to brighten up the friendly dragons new castle.  The dragon loved the wallpaper and sneaked into school last night to collect it.  He has already hung it up in the castle and the gingerbread man has already popped by to have a peek!  Doesn’t it look fantastic?!

Happy Easter Everyone from P1a

P1a were surprised to receive a letter from the Friendly Dragon on Monday. The Friendly Dragon asked us to use everything we learnt about Fairytales to create wallpaper decorated with Fairytale stories.   We also had a go at describing Rapunzel in our castle books.

We enjoyed working with P1b to create this super wallpaper.

We have also learnt how to make a block graph to show the different amounts of Easter pictures.  Miss Rodford through that we did a super job with the colouring. In maths, we also started to learn our number facts to 10 using ten frames and cubes to help us.

Finally, we enjoyed making our Easter Cards and baskets!!!

Happy Easter Everyone!!!

After that we rolled our eggs that we had decorated down the hill.  We really liked it when they smashed!  We also enjoyed watching the birds eat the eggs after!

Fantastic French in P1b

P1b had a special visitor today as Mrs Keegan came along from St. Ninians Primary to work on some French with us.  Mrs Keegan was impressed with the super listening skills and with the French speaking too.  The children managed to tell Mrs Keegan and Sophie the Elephant their name, how they were feeling, they sang some songs in French and even played a colour game!  Well done boys and girls you should all be super proud of yourselves!

Beanstalk Success!

Well done to Nathan Campbell (and his family) who have tenderly been looking after the beanstalk which Nathan planted in school and then took home.  After hearing about how well it was growing at parents evening I couldn’t resist asking for a photo and have to say I am very impressed!  If anyone else is having success with their beanstalk then we would love to see it!  Well done!!

Data Handling in P1b

P1b were learning all about graphs this week.  We discussed our favourite characters from some fairy tales and made our votes using our ‘voting sponges’.  This helped us to count up which character had the most votes and to talk about the most and least popular characters.  We worked out that most people preferred the friendly dragon over the gingerbread man and that Rapunzel was the favourite character over Golidlocks and Little Red Riding Hood.  We then used what we had learned to help us create our own Easter graphs.  Super results achieved – well done P1b!
