Christmas is Coming!

It’s hard to believe that there are only two school days left before we finish for the Christmas holidays.  December has been a very busy month for P1 with our nativity rehearsals and performances, Christmas dinner, Christmas crafts and of course our Christmas party where Santa took time out of his busy schedule to drop off a little gift for all the children since they have been working so hard!  We are looking forward to the parents coming to join us for the Carol service on Monday and then to having a little rest over the Christmas Holidays.  Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to all.

P1/2 Have had a busy week!

The highlight of our week has to have been our Christmas party where we had a very special visitor!  We had great fun playing games and dancing with our friends.

We have been completing lots of different Christmas activities and are looking forward to taking home all of our surprises on Monday (maybe don’t look too closely in their bags that day!)

Now that our nativity is over we have been rehearsing for the carol service next week when some of us will be reprising our nativity roles to help the whole school celebrate Christmas.  We have been working hard to remember the new songs and all of the different places we have to sit.  Mrs Ferguson, Mrs Lloyd and Mrs Thomson are very proud of how well we are doing.

Primary 6 & 7 Christmas Party

What a fantastic time we all had last night at our Christmas party. It was lovely to see all the children dressed smartly in their party clothes – there were plenty of sparkles about! We enjoyed a number of social dances and then party games… Up and Over proved a popular (and highly competitive!) choice.

Many thanks to all the children who came along and also to the many teachers. Mrs Balfour and Mrs Thomson did a super job announcing the dances and Miss Dunne could easily become a world famous DJ with her skills!

There’s not too long to go now at school, let the Christmas Countdown truly commence!

Nursery Christmas Fun

In the nursery we are very excited about Christmas.  We wrote invitations inviting Santa to our party and this week he wrote a letter back to us!!  He said he will try to make it but he is very busy and poor Rudolph has a cold.

We are looking forward to telling you the Christmas story at our nativity next week, don’t forget, it is on Thursday 18th December at 10am for the morning children and 2pm for the afternoon children.

Preparations for Christmas at Bankton

All across the school, staff and pupils are preparing for the celebration of Christmas. Thanks to Mrs. Connell and the Kitchen ‘Elves’ we all enjoyed a beautiful Christmas lunch yesterday. All children behaved as they would in a restaurant and thanked the ladies for their hard work.

The Kitchen 'Elves' - ready to go!

Nursery morning and afternoon groups have been rehearsing well for a lively Nativity which they will perform for parents and families on December 18th. P.1,2,3 impressed their parents and families with a confident performance of ‘Born in a Barn’ on Tuesday afternoon. P.1 assure me that today’s performance will be even better!!

P.3/4 and P.4 will launch their newly recorded CD at their Enterprise Showcase for parents tomorrow at 11.15. At this event parents will be treated to a live performance of the carols, followed by an opportunity to buy Christmas products made by the children. The event will start in the Great Hall and refreshments and stalls will be set up in the small hall after the performance. Please come and support your child.

Second level pupils impressed me so much during their rehearsal for the Carol Service that I had to stay and listen to their wonderful singing. The carols have been specially chosen this year to be uplifting so we can promise that you will leave our Carol Service full of Christmas Spirit! The ticket price of £1 includes refreshments in the small hall afterwards. Please make time to join us on this special occasion for the whole school.
