Curriculum Rationale

At Inverkip Primary School and Nursery Class, we believe every child and every person matters and every moment counts. Our curriculum is rooted in our community and shaped by our shared values of respect, optimism, ambition, and resilience (ROAR). These values underpin everything we do, from play based learning in our nursery to interdisciplinary projects across the school.

We are proud to be a ‘Kipper’, embracing our unique local village context, from glen to marina, to make learning meaningful, relevant, and rich in real-world experiences. Our curriculum offers breadth, depth, and challenge, ensuring every child has opportunities for personal achievement and to thrive across all curriculum areas.

We foster a culture of ambition, where staff and learners understand what matters, and where relationships, resilience, and responsibility are key. Through strong partnerships, outdoor learning, and dialogic teaching, we celebrate progress, promote wellbeing, and ensure every learner feels included, supported, and inspired to succeed.

Wellbeing is the key to success, and through our nurturing environment and SHANARRI principles, children are empowered to feel safe, respected, and ready to achieve their full potential.
